    Pros

Ogilvy & Mather is huge and in NYC you can feel it. Headquartered in a building of 11 floors, O&M feels like a tank: big, influential and powerful. Like the agency itself, O&M's clients are big, multinational companies that pay big bucks to advertise their product. There is no shortage of work and no shortage of friendly faces doing it.

    Cons

While O&M has many clients, a lot of the work done for those clients is intended to keep the lights on. Sometimes creativity takes a seat in order to please the client and grant their wishes. O&M churns out work like a factory however sometimes the sense of creative-urgency is missing in their assembly-line.

    Advice to Management

If it doesn't sell, It isn't creative. But if it isn't creative, it won't sell.

    Pros

Great friendly environment. The culture is one of the best I have worked in.

    Cons

It is really tough for junior level employees to move up. Employee reviews are not consistent and do not lead to much action when actually done.

I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time

    Pros

Some of the best brains in advertising and people with 20+ years experience mean there's someone who can help you with any problem you're facing. North America clients are large and often B2B. There's a gym, cafeteria, health clinic on-site at NY HQ. Teams are especially talented and fun! There's potential to transfer within Ogilvy's global network.

    Cons

Some of the teams have too many layers of middle management and a very serious/Corporate culture, despite being an agency! Find the fun teams like the strategy or the Content+Social group.

    Advice to Management

Remove P&Ls between the teams to encourage "one Ogilvy" way of working.

I worked at Ogilvy & Mather (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - great, organized program with speaker series, social events, and trainings that help you familiarize yourself with the industry
    - i worked in the strategy department (planning) on global accounts and enjoyed working with senior planners to uncover insights that ultimately inform advertisements on TV / digital

    Cons

    - the ad industry is an interesting place to be right now. especially for a young person, your agency really has to adapt to digital to stay relevant. i think ogilvy is doing a lot to stay current but also has a long way to go

    Advice to Management

Be more open to change and expand the digital parts of your business. It's part of WPP so it's undeniably held by other interests. Still, the culture is great and i enjoyed every day i worked there

I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Ogilvy is a massive network of multi-disciplinary specialists. If it can be done it advertising it can be done at Ogilvy. The opportunity to learn, and grow is as massive as the client roster.
Work/Life balance is great, and is supported by our policies, such as maternity, remote access, and other special needs options. There are a myriad of extra curricular groups, and a ton of inventive fun, all in the name of the Ogilvy brand.

    Cons

Because Ogilvy is so large, it can often be difficult to navigate. Your career goals can often be lost in the name of client and project needs. It can be hard to be heard, and easy to be overlooked.
Advancement can feel unbalanced, and you can often times feel detached from some of the broader success that the agency experiences.
