Pros
Great people to work with at a very relaxed environment. Work stays at work and you're never expected to work over 40 hrs/week though you do get OT pay. Great learning experience for a younger engineer
Cons
Public sector is very slow and boring. Not a whole lot of excitement and an abundance of red tape because it is a government office. Co-workers often drag their feet and it was very frustrating for someone who is motivated and trying to showcase their abilities. Pay is also much lower than others

Pros
Great benefits, great free parking, and a good credit union. There are some great people working here, but beware, a few can ruin your job.
Cons
I was there for six years and resigned today. This resignation occurred due to the Union promising me that I would be fired at the end of my hearing which was to follow the next day. I worked in a dept that I was shoved into after my job was outsourced to a friend of a person working at ODOT. as a female entering a department with two male coworkers and a male boss I felt like I was breaking up the boys club. I constantly was written up for petty issues and when I filed complaints against my boss, magically a few weeks later I would get a call to go sign paperwork in HR over small issues not warranting a write up. Extremely frustrating as I declined a Nationwide job bc I was excited for the original job I applied for. Now I am unable to get a State job due to all the write ups.
