SHAME ON YOU!!!!
Feb 17, 2023 - Human Resources in East Palestine, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you like killing residents in East Palestine slowly, this is the job for you!! You will not be held accountable for your evil deeds, and you still get paid!! Sounds like a dream job for someone with no soul.
Cons
You may have to lie a lot and allow for the murder of humans and animals. It's kind of a downside to working here.

Workload is slightly high for 40 hrs per week, some inconsistency in how rules and policies are implemented, busy work gets in the way of more important tasks, occasional high stress.

Good company, hard to get foot in door
Jul 23, 2021 - Environmental Specialist II in Columbus, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Unionized positions get frequent raises, easy jobs, not too intensive. Working from home becoming more of an option.
Cons
Interviewing to get a spot at Ohio EPA is very difficult, as is trying to get accepted to a new position.

Working with enthusiastic and intelligent people
Cons
it's government work so it's slow

Pros
- There are very bright, motivated, and caring people at the agency, from the administrative staff to the scientists - Never take work home / predictable hours for most staff - Work for the public good - Low-stress (hard for them to fire you) - Decent pay and benefits, all things considered - If you work in a 'field office' as an inspector, you will have a very interesting (and probably rewarding) job
Cons
- Advancement takes a long time. Probably 50% of the professional staff at my office have been in the same position for 10-20+ years. - Managers do not invest in 'professional development' - Current senior EPA officials seem to be politically motivated, anti-union (which may not be the worst thing, but it keeps salaries down), and don't have a desire to promote a collegial atmosphere (stricter dress code, no more 'flex hours') - The past two Directors have been very unpopular for their lack of connection with regular employees. Since Ohio EPA is a top-down institution (every 'big' project you will work on will be signed by the director), this stinks - Middle management kowtows to upper management and does not stand up for their employees - Benefits are good, but really only pay off if you stay 5 years+. Matching 401k on paper seems great, except that they take out fees so that a 10% employee / 14% employer contribution becomes a 10% employee / 8% employer one. I don't trust the pension plan. - Not a good place to be a young employee for many of the above reasons (most staff are 45+ and are waiting for their pensions)
