I worked at Oklahoma Army National Guard part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Get to be home and serve at the same time

    Cons

Not what i expected. Was very unstructured and would recommend going active duty

    Advice to Management

More structure. You slack off to much and the expect your soldiers to not do the same. Lead from the front not the back.

I have been working at Oklahoma Army National Guard (More than 10 years)

    Pros

As a full timer the pay and benefits are good. The ability to help others always feels good.

    Cons

So full of toxic leaders. Leaders who will step all over you to get where they want to be, and they don't even hide. They give a leader who destroyed his battalion in 2 years and completley individualized his entire team an MSM, and yet they don't even send out a thank you email for any enlisted NCO or CSM who retires after 20 plus years. Way to motivate the troops.

    Advice to Management

Lead from the front. Communicate effectively.

    Cons

Processes and paperwork are slow and you have to stay on top of most of the admins.

    Advice to Management

Hold the S1 shop accountable and provide better oversight of what they are or are not doing.
