I worked at Oklahoma Christian University (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Professors are very friendly, the administrative support workers are awesome and fun to work with! This was one of the best jobs I've ever had. My boss was very understanding when school got in the way every once in a while, and it was easy to get along with everyone.

    Cons

Was only allowed to work 8 hours a week for minimum wage only. I would've liked to work a little more in my down time between work and class and homework, but I'm also thankful for the hour limit when I got busy with school.

I worked at Oklahoma Christian University (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The employees who work there are dedicated even though under compensated.

    Cons

I was laid off without any warning after years of dedicated service. I was and still am traumatized by the poor way the layoff was handled.

I worked at Oklahoma Christian University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a great environment with great people.

    Cons

If working in other staff functions besides faculty, there is not necessarily a lot of room for upward mobility given limited management options.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, putting people and the University's mission first and foremost.

I worked at Oklahoma Christian University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great family-friendly workplace. OC is home is so so so very accurate. OC is a place where you're loved and poured into personally and professionally, and you're given the opportunity to grow and pour into others, as well. You'll get out of OC what you put into it. It's not a perfect place, but then again, no place is. If you want to work for a place that transforms lives and strengthens God's kingdom, OC is a great place to be.

    Cons

OC is tuition dependent (like most private Christian universities) which means that small upticks or downfalls in enrollment can make a big impact on the university's bottom line. Everyone at OC is well-aware of this factor and steps are being taken to mitigate it, but it's still an issue. Like any organization, there are people at OC who don't fully buy into the mission and those individuals present special obstacles from time to time.

    Advice to Management

Keep pressing on. You're on the right track. OC is a great place. OC is worth it. Someday, the people who come after you will thank you for the difficult things you're doing today to make sure OC is viable and vibrant for generations to come.

I have been working at Oklahoma Christian University (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are very personable and helpful.
Everyone I have met strives to be a servant leader which makes it a really great place to work.

    Cons

The salary is not very high since I am still in college. It is a Christian institution, so If you have a different perspective on spirituality, you might fit very well. But overall, it is a wonderful place.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for listen to suggestions and to care about students and employees.

    Some great people work there
    Relaxed work environment
    Fun place

    Cons

    Always in budget crisis
Favorites guides promotion not work production
Leadership trying to protect themselves not their workers
If your not part of the enter circle you will not advance
You can work very hard for very little usually not even a thank you.
Says it is family but it is a very dysfunctional family

    Advice to Management

Don't let middle management feel untouchable.
When you have people who work hard reward them.
If it truly is a family don't run your strong family members off.
