starting salary sounds nice but you will never see another raise
Feb 10, 2022 - Child Welfare Specialist II in Oklahoma City, OKRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
so the pros are the benefits are great and pre covid the co- workers were fantastic and honstly that makes of breaks this job. Also for entry level the salary is decent
Cons
you will have an ever increasing workload, little support from leadership and honestly you may very well get thrown to doing a job you aren't even trained to do and you better figure it out quick. Also don't expect to ever see a meaningful raise.

Pros
Good work/life balance. Decent benefits and time off. Not too stressful.
Cons
No pay increases. No communication. Management could be improved for sure.

Pros
Benefits are great and affordable
Cons
Overworked, underpaid, huge caseload, understaffed
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Leave (sick and vacation) is generous. Medical and other insurance benefits are excellent (especially when compared to the private sector). Retirement benefits are very good. The division of the agency that I am in has a collegial and supportive culture.
Cons
The pay is significantly lower than in the private sector. Performance-based raises do not occur, though there are indications that leadership is attempting to change this.

Pros
The benefits are wonderful and thats basically the only good thing about this position
Cons
Very tedious, policy misunderstood many times

Good benefits, pay for the region
Oct 18, 2021 - Child Support Specialist II in Tulsa, OKRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Benefits allowance covers or helps cover insurance/health care; effectively an extra $600-700/month (single, no dependents) of income in addition to salary. Good job security. Pay and benefits are above average/good for the area.
Cons
Pay does not scale year by year to track inflation like federal employment. Depending on county, office, or specific job title caseloads may be high (especially for Child Welfare in Tulsa or OKC, or for SNAP workers in general). Occasionally difficult clients. Minimal promotion opportunities that depend on people in existing positions retiring/leaving/getting promoted (which is not often).

the DHS has great benefits while employed there. Three weeks of vacation the first year of employment good medical benefit that start the day of employment.
Cons
raises are not forthcoming on a regular they are regulated by the house and senate of the state of Oklahoma and the DHS is moving to a more automated system
