I worked at Old Dominion Freight full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good company good benefits, pay is ok.

    Cons

Long physical labor hours. Expected to meet production like schedule with minimal to no help!

    Advice to Management

Operating that lean of a crew is too physically and mentally draining regardless of age. Cut bonus to upper management and get some help on the docks. More than likely this will improve your turn over ratio. (ROI)

    Pros

Decent pay. Supervisors and management are awesome. You get an hour break each shift. Easy job once you learn how to drive a fork lift.

    Cons

Terrible hours. Either freezing or sweating. Constantly sleep deprived. Work alone most of the time. Not much talking during your shift.

    Pros

    Company has won several awards

    Cons

Terminal manager steps on and lies to get whatever they want. Scared to hold drivers accountable. Supervisors not allowed to write up anyone.. micromanager and only out for themselves. Morale sucks and they can't figure out why.

    Advice to Management

Hold your terminal managers accountable. When someone calls leadership with a complaint don't brush them off. Look into what is going on in your region and do something about it!

I worked at Old Dominion Freight (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, great benefits, good fellow employees, great supervisors and managers at terminal.

    Cons

No matter how you bust your bottom for the company as an employee, one mistake can cost your job security to drop down to 0!!! They're very strict!! This is directed to the corporate office!! The ones doesn't have a clue about the employees that work for them. Bad part is that the terminal managers and supervisor were fighting to keep me there because I was a great asset to the company.

    Pros

Good pay with on-time raises every 90 days

    Cons

A lot of hours, less time with family and supervisors has bad attitudes and talk to you any kind of way. They threaten your jobs at dock meetings. Its ran like a slave plantation. If you can put up with that, then it may be the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Hire supervisors that has the proper degrees to Manage business and people. If not, they need training on how to communicate effectively.
