    Pros

This business has been around for over 100 years. It is a good steady workplace. It has been a community bank for many years, and now is transitioning into more complex and sophisticated products. This is also a great bank for those in real estate and development lending.

    Cons

This is a slow moving bank and many of the changes that are needed will take many years to reach. Not an exciting or challenging atmosphere. The bank has grown aggressively in recent years, but seems to have grown past the competence of the current team and infrastructure.

    Advice to Management

Pick a path: if you are going to be a large community bank, then do that well and better than anyone. If you are going to be a more sophisticated bank with more investment banking products, then go that route. You can't do both well, at least not with the current infrastructure.

    Pros

If you like a Monday thru Friday job than this may be for you. Friendly customer support to customers coming in.

    Cons

Horrible training. Once you complete first week training you are pretty much thrown to wolves. Leadership lacks in training new personal.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be patient and train people who have never been in a banking environment.

    Pros

Above average pay for industry. Good work life balance. Depending on location, great team members. Great community based organization.

    Cons

Fee crazy, if you're not apart of certain cliques you will never get promoted. Certain managers have free reign to come and go as they please.

    Advice to Management

Monitor middle management better, get rid of crazy fees. Break up the "girls club" in the Lafayette area.

    Pros

The dress code is casual in the mortgage office, sneakers and jeans. The job itself is tolerable, if you enjoy staring at two computer monitors eight plus hours a day.

    Cons

It's an office full of women, so there is a lot of cattiness and gossip. Also, your collegues will go out of their way to try to tattle and make you look bad to management. Speaking of management, they are completely clueless, overpaid, morons who are running the mortgage division into the ground.

    Advice to Management

I want to say, be more intelligent, but they probably wouldn't understand my meaning.

    Pros

Leadership team is great! ONB is dedicated to their community involvement and all employees participate. work life balance is important and the company is able to work with flex time and other special requests. Room to grow

    Cons

Salary isn't the best but it's such a great company that it out weighs that aspect. It can be competitive with sales but that is expected.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people more and perhaps listen more to what employees have to say about where improvements can be made.
