Pros
Cons
  • I would say there are actually not too many cons, maybe the amount of pushing to open credit cards can get a little annoying but manageable (in 313 reviews)

  • Hard work life balance sometimes (in 87 reviews)

I have been working at Old Navy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Definitely, hours to pick up. Especially around holidays

    - Good job for college students

    Cons

There is room to grow, but managers don't like to lose good employees so they will delay your promotion or transfer.

I worked at Old Navy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible working hours, even as a full time manager; caring staff and upper management; delegation of work (more independent); room for growth and promotion; values employees feelings and concerns; strives to be the best at everything and rewards employees for succeeding in those goals

    Cons

Lot of work to manage at one time but still not terrible; worked all holidays (but paid time and a half); & insane customers sometimes

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Old navy is a great place to work really great coming from high school for a first job. $10/ hr is pretty good when u get enough hours.

    Cons

Part-time is only 4 hours/ shift and you get your hours depending on how well business and sales are going which sucks because if the store isn't making enough money neither are you even if you have shifts schedule they will call you the day of your shift to tell you your shifts been cut.

I worked at Old Navy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay, Associate Discount, Great Benefits, Awesome Vacation Time, Dress code that honors individual style (you can wear jeans to work)

    Cons

Very long hours, unrealistic expectations with little payroll, working on Thanksgiving, long holiday hours (open until midnight the week before Christmas), don't expect any type of work/life balance if you are in a larger volume store

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees that care about the company and want to do well. Learn from the feedback given from those working at the store level.

I worked at Old Navy part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I loved working at Old Navy starting out. The diversity and culture was amazing.

    Cons

When it gets busy, forget about a lunch break. The manager will take the opportunity to overwork you when needed.

I worked at Old Navy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent compensation, with some vacation time (only for full time management positions) as well as small staff incentives (not available for management.

    Cons

Management and corporate don't care about low-level employees, constantly told to redo things to meet a different standard and then changing again the next day. They do not allot enough labor hours to complete projects.

I worked at Old Navy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a job for a high school student, unless you are a manager you won't get any good pay. Hopefully the higher end positions are lucrative

    Cons

cut hours ALL the time, same thing everyday if your on sales floor or cashier. Three hour shifts sometimes 5.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring people if you are already booked on employees.

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love my coworkers. The job is really, really easy and laid back. You get to wear what you want.

    Cons

You may get one shift per week whereas someone else is working everyday. Management makes you want to quit. The managers are usually passive aggressive and have favorites. High expectations when it comes to old navy cards or ONCs.

    Advice to Management

    Treat everyone the same.

I worked at Old Navy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Old Navy can be a fun and challenging place to work. Engaging with the management usually leads to added rolls and advancement. The discount on already low price merchandise is nice and once you become full time the benefits get better the more years you've worked (paid-time off).

    Cons

Sometimes the customers can become frustrated by confusing sale signs. The POS system is out of date and could be more streamlined because of all of the discounts and sales. If you're new you can expect to get the evening hours to begin with but if you a good fit will be scheduled for more day time shifts. There are no benefits to part time employment other than the discount.

    Advice to Management

Slow down the pace. Even if the store is busy, frantic managers don't inspire harder workers.
