I have been working at Old Republic full-time

    Pros

They show appreciation to their employees

    Cons

The downside is that when you work in Authorzations it seems like your not worth anything to the company you get treated like a child

    Advice to Management

Bump up the pay to reflect the work, making less than 20 is crazy

I worked at Old Republic as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very chill and laid back, not too much pressure on the job as an intern. Easily accessible via public transport as they are located on the Mag Mile in downtown Chicago. Paid very modestly for an internship and were very flexible with hours.

    Cons

For an internship not having any pressure and getting very little guidance or instruction is not the best for a learning experience. The office culture is quite horrendous as well. Seemingly very little opportunity for advancement within the company.

    Advice to Management

Foster and build a better workplace culture because it seems there is little enjoyment to working here. Need to get the workforce younger, as it is mostly older folks that work here and getting closer to retirement.

I worked at Old Republic full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great location and in a landmark building on Michigan Ave. Company is small enough (at least the Chicago office - this does not apply to OR Title) for some to be noticed and move up the ranks, if qualified. Overall, a fair, ethical company that strives to make good decisions for shareholders. Good fit for employees just starting out and looking for entry level positions.

    Cons

Pay is not very competitive and bonuses are small. Culture is very conservative - the status quo is upheld. Don't expect many "perks" that other companies will provide, such as gym memberships, parking reimbursements, daycare, etc. The company is run very lean, which is a pro and a con. Company has been through a rough patch due to industry troubles - not completely its own fault.

Pay your employees what they're worth.
