I worked at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good management, good food, good training for servers. Overall good environment to work in. This job allows you to grow and learn while making money.

    Cons

They only let you have 3 tables at a time and would make you split the tips with another server on party’s of 8 or more.

    Advice to Management

Fix the con I mentioned, trust good servers to do it and it’ll promote good manager/server relationships.

I have been working at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible hours, short shifts and you can make anywhere from 200-400 in a weekend which is nice when you have classes to worry about during the week.

    Cons

Can be extremely stressful. Guests can be rude and demanding sometimes, but for the most part people are nice. You can only take 3 tables (typically) so that can hinder the money making aspect of it but food prices tend to be high so check averages are pretty good and people do tip 20% often.

    Advice to Management

cut people when its slow and leave the strong servers on that can handle it so people don't just stand around and lose moral.

I have been working at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Can make pretty good tips during the school year especially on the weekends. Cash on hand, very little side-work, and flexible hours.

    Cons

Unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks are time consuming and are constantly unavailable. The entrees have high prices but the combo and lunch menu have very low tip potential. Management isn't great and the employees don't work well to help each other out. You are limited to only taking 3 tables at a time because of the unlimited options. Business does not run smoothly.

    Advice to Management

Don't micromanage but develop a better system so that unlimited options and desserts are always available when needed. Alert the staff to kitchen conditions and expected wait times for appetizers versus entrees to avoid suboptimal food delivery.

I worked at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time

    Pros

Darden is a really good company. The training is good for the restaurant industry and you get to try all the good food. A 3 table section is nice for typically ensuring good tips and you get to really serve that table, and you can also have good conversations with guests sometimes. The best thing about OG is it’s consistency, the people love their breadsticks. My favorite part was the family atmosphere and working... with 20+ people every shift. I made some great friends working here. Minimum side work too!

    Cons

Sometimes you can’t get the volume you want with the 3 table section and it can limit your tips once you get good. Some cooks and bussers have been there too long and are complacent and won’t do their jobs when you rely on them at times.

    Advice to Management

District managers - shake your employees hands when you visit the store! Store managers - stop telling employees to do what they already were/did going to do!

I worked at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You can make decent money if you have closing shifts.

    Cons

You only get a 3 table section even after they cut the floor.

    Advice to Management

Building your team up and their accomplishments is necessary rather than focusing on the negitives should be a focus.
