I worked at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet part-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you find them then good for you

    Cons

Very few hours. If you don't keep up OA enrollment numbers then you get scheduled even less until you are fired. They will also use you for their own gain and take credit for your work so they can move up and get bonuses while treating you like sh*t and not acknowledging any of your work.

    Advice to Management

    F**k off

Miscommunication between from management about certain deals that have to be done through the cashier.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I really like working with the team. Customers have become very loyal. It's a good business model.

    Cons

Hours are short. Schedules are not put up until very late; makes it very hard to plan.

    Advice to Management

    Get the schedules up sooner!!!

I worked at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    I had a flexible schedule.

    Cons

Low starting pay ( and annual raise was insulting.) You will be expected to do the work of 3 people. I would frequently be made to unload a semi trailer ( which was explained to me to be the freight flow managers job) while being told by the freight flow that she didn't like to do it cuz its mens work.

    Advice to Management

Get your stuff together. Don't promote people multiple times just because they slept with recently fired management.

I worked at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Employee discount (20%), ability to earn gift cards through recognition program

    Cons

Store is always messy with no structure due to the lack of planograms, your hours can get cut or you could be fired for not signing enough people up for the Ollie's Army card, you're either overstaffed or understaffed, extremely high turnover because pay is low but expectations are high, upper management always comes to the store and complains about everything and makes us move it around for no reason, unrealistic expectations...

    Advice to Management

Stop pushing the Ollie's program so hard. It just makes the customers angry when they're hounded about a card that doesn't really help them that much anyway. When you have to deal with dozens of angry customers in a day and then get yelled at for not getting enough sign ups, it drains employee morale. Try to clean up the stores to make them more welcoming to customers. We're expected to get everything out of the stockroom...

I have been working at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Perhaps I was lucky, but the only real positive aspect is the fact that at my store, we're like a family.

    Cons

From what I understand, the amount of hours that the big guys give us, is why we have difficulty completing tasks. I understand that hours mean money, but I think the company would make more money if we had the hours needed to schedule people in order to complete the door-to-floor in 24, that we are required to try (that we hardly ever succeed in doing). The money would be made because of the amount of new product being...

    Advice to Management

If you give more hours, more product can be pushed, which is more money that will be made for you. Plus, if the freight is pushed faster, then recovery is more likely and the stores will look better. There is such a high employee turnover, some because of hours, some because of wages, but a lot mainly because of lack of recognition. I absolutely LOVE the kudos idea, however, it must be enforced by you! Many managers put...
