    Pros

    I have been in retail/customer service for just about all of my working career. And, I gotta say, working at Ollie's was slightly better to working at Zayre's. Met some wonderful people! Better than average discount (20%) for just above min wage. "Good ole boys" club. Do encourage advancement with Ollie's University. I was lucky, caring managers and got along well with most staff members and customers. Properly trained...

    Cons

    Where do I begin... Most of the front end cashiers are rude and have no personality. No smiles or welcome. Rules changed daily. Everything relies on threat of Termination. No set work schedule. Each week different and not posted until Thurs/Fri before. Too many fundraisers. Nickle/diming customers to death for months on end. Lounge is a joke. Bathrooms are disgusting. Need to find a better way to look up items...

    Advice to Management

    Be consistent with instructions. Don't talk down to us, we are adults and expect to be treated with respect. Wonder if management has read any of these comments left here. Just about all negative, but that tends to be the trend anyway. But, they are all pretty much the same gripe. Consider being able to scan the UPC code for pricing. The pricing system/look-up system is a joke. Same for looking up customer's numbers...

    I worked at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Fast paced work environment, freedom to choose your own merchandising style with minimal guide lines.

    Cons

    very small working staff, underpaid lower and middle management, exorbitant expectations on lower management, noneffective management training program and refusal to pay earned paid time off upon proper exiting of the company.

    Advice to Management

    Restructure employee relations with lower and middle management as well as hourly associates, re-evaluate the structure and usage of hourly employees and their responsibilities.
