    Pros

I just started at Ollies corporate office a little over one month ago. It's been a really great experience so far. Upper management is very helpful and they want to see you succeed. Everyone is willing to answer your questions. There is no disconnect between executives and regular employees which is really awesome. Executives are really easy to have conversation with. Very ethical work environment, great benefits, and...

I worked at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet

      Pros

Your day was never boring. Lots of great deals. If you like to truly merchandise this is the company for you.

      Cons

Company talks about work-life balance but there is none. District managers are not trust worthy. The HR department is full of poorly trained associates that are never consistent. That made it hard to discipline upper management. You can work 7 days a week and you still were not doing enough.

      Advice to Management

The managers who run your buildings are who got you where you are today. The regional managers need to be more involved in what is going on in the stores. District managers should not be able to hold audit scores over your head to get you to work longer days than your already doing.

I worked at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Employee discount (20%), ability to earn gift cards through recognition program

      Cons

Store is always messy with no structure due to the lack of planograms, your hours can get cut or you could be fired for not signing enough people up for the Ollie's Army card, you're either overstaffed or understaffed, extremely high turnover because pay is low but expectations are high, upper management always comes to the store and complains about everything and makes us move...

      Advice to Management

Stop pushing the Ollie's program so hard. It just makes the customers angry when they're hounded about a card that doesn't really help them that much anyway. When you have to deal with dozens of angry customers in a day and then get yelled at for not getting enough sign ups, it drains employee morale. Try to clean up the stores to make them more welcoming to customers. We're expected to get everything out of the stockroom...

      - 20% Discount - Competitive medical insurance - Almost impossible to get fired as long as you are trying to do a good job. - The company is very profitable(partially due to overworking the employees) - Promote from within

      Cons

      - No work life balance - 401k is only 25% match - No stock options - Very physically demanding - Corporate dictates when the store managers work. You no longer have the freedom to run your business. - Really high turnover The company used to be a great place to work. The employees were valued from the ground up. The work was hard and the company acknowledged it. The company culture has changed so that no one...
