    Pros

There are good people there doing excellent work, and most people are helpful and friendly
Many long time staff members with strong investment in institution
Student population is non-traditional and offers interesting diversity of experiences, often due to the substantial local military population

Institutional culture difficult to adjust to for outsiders

    Advice to Management

Listen to the needs of the students, as they change, so will the needs of the institution.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Olympic College full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

As the economy gets worse, enrollment goes up. As enrollment goes up, so does the availability of excess enrollment dollars. This results in quite a bit of prosperity at the college while the rest of the economy is suffering. This makes a career at Olympic College practically recession-proof.

    Cons

Change happens very slowly at Olympic College, where the average employee has more than 15 years of service. This sometimes results in a sense of institutional ennui, which can be hard to overcome.

    Advice to Management

A greater commitment to participatory management would improve things greatly.

I have been working at Olympic College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Helping students achieve their goals. Supporting international students as they study in a foreign country. Helping students with career goals.

    Cons

Pay - part-time people never receive an increase in salary. Stressful - trying to do a full-time job in 18 hours/week.
