The Good One
Apr 30, 2023 - Digital Print Operator in Milwaukee, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You get to do some amazing work for a lot of different people.
Cons
Communication lack between different departments.
Continue readingThanks for your review! We totally agree with your pros! The projects that come through the door are all unique and give us the opportunity to work with some awesome customers. To address your cons, we are currently working on improving communication between all departments. Our first step was putting together a group of knowledgeable individuals from multiple departments that can come up with solutions for these communication issues that make sense for all parties involved. Next is the implementation of these solutions. Thank you for your advice! We always encourage our managers to be fair, but if at any point in time you don’t feel comfortable speaking to your manager or any member of management, please reach out to any member of our HR team.

Amazing work/life balance -
Aug 11, 2022 - Sales and Marketing in Milwaukee, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
When they say they focus on the employee, they truly mean it. The flexibility, trust and transparency is like nothing I've ever experienced before. There is tons of emphasis on personal development and career development if you take the opportunities. The work/life balance is great, and nearly every single co-worker is beyond pleasant and usually great to work with. Although the company feels small, you still get to enjoy some of the luxuries that larger companies enjoy, while keeping the small feeling. The projects and products are really cool too. It's fun to go to a baseball game and say "We made that!" I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to show up, do their job well, and still be able to have a life outside of work.
Cons
It's feels like the company is in the between stages where it's not a small company, but it's not a big company either. They cannot pay as well as larger companies, which makes retention difficult. There are also a number of pitfalls that come along with a transition period, like the need for systems and processes in certain places, and bureaucracy slowing down how fast things move top down. Also, if you need lots of instruction and direction, this might not be the place for you. You are trusted to get the job done and be autonomous which can sometimes be tough for some to keep up.

Thank you for you review! We completely agree with all yours pros to working with us! To touch on some of your points, our employees are great and we give them freedom and flexibility because we appreciate their flexibility with us and we trust them to get the job done. Brian (our owner) is very transparent and great at communicating with all of our employees on a business and personal level. This is something that our employees value greatly and that makes him stand out as a CEO. Brian and our other Olympus leaders/managers also prioritize personal and career development because we want to give advancement opportunities to our employees who work tirelessly to contribute to our success as a company. That's just one of the ways we support the employees who support us. In the past year, we went from a small to a midsized company by opening up a new location in Nashville and acquiring Screaming Images out in Las Vegas. These investments have taken up a lot of time and effort (which is why some of those pitfalls have occurred), but have also opened up many doors filled with opportunity such as new positions around the country for current and new employees. While we can't always pay top dollar for all current or open positions, we always offer competitive pay per market value and we definitely recognize a top dollar material employee/candidate when we see one. If we are unable to reach the pay expectations of an individual, we are transparent about the salary range, provide coaching to the individual on how they can get closer to/get to their desired pay and/or try to make up for it in other ways. We believe this is why our retention has continuously improved over the past few years and our average tenure is 6 years.

Thanks for your review! We totally agree with your pros! As a company, we try our best to be as flexible and understanding as possible. We do also have a very diverse and creative group of people working for us which makes every day unique and exciting. In terms of pay, we do use a pay benchmarking tool that helps us get insight into how much a position is worth based on things such as responsibilities, education, experience, job location, etc. We always shoot to be competitive with the job market and we do offer yearly raises which are a great opportunity to discuss your success in your position and get a higher raise. As for PTO, in a new hire’s first year they can get up to 8 days of PTO. The following year, they will go up to 13 days and have the option to purchase a week or half a week of PTO if they wish to do so. Our new hires are encouraged to seek assistance from our experienced staff and/or reach out to their managers if they ever have any questions or concerns. Our Mascot team is full of people who are willing and able to help with any projects.

Absolutely worth an interview
Jun 24, 2022 - Costume Technician in Milwaukee, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Olympus really strives to be a progressive, modern, state of the art company. Managers encourage feedback. They have it together a lot more than competitors. There are great skill building opportunities
Cons
The location is inconvenient for most. Public transportation is not easy to access. There isn’t much nearby. As much as Olympus wants to be progressive there is a need for integrating employees among departments
Olympus Group Response
Thank you for your review! I would definitely agree with the pros you listed. In terms of our location, we are in a unique area here in Milwaukee. There are bus routes nearby, but none that would drop you off directly in front of our HQ which we understand can be hard on our team members. Thankfully, our managers are very flexible and accommodating with schedules which helps employees who have longer commutes or troubles with transportation. Our leadership team and their team members are actively working on the integration you're speaking of. We recognize that communication and understanding are two of the keys to our success here and we will continue to work on this so that we can make Olympus Group a better place to work.

Pros
Good atmosphere, fun projects, small enough so you now most people but not too small so you are interacting with different groups of people.
Cons
Project deadlines can be tight forcing longer hours but it's kinda the industry standard so not really blaming the company on this one.

Thanks for the kind words! Agree completely on the fast paced, tight turns - we work with some really cool customers on crazy, unique projects but for events, tradeshows, pro sports teams and amusement parks - they all want their graphics and want them now. -Brian Adam, President

Thank you for your rating! We strongly believe that our employees are one of the greatest if not the greatest part about Olympus Group. I'm sorry to hear that you felt you were unable to grow in your career with us. At Olympus Group, we believe in internal promotion and have proudly promoted about 70% of our leaders into their current positions. We have expanded greatly over the past few years which led to us transitioning from a small to a mid-sized company. Because of this, we've been actively working to expand the necessary departments as quickly as possible. In 2021, we hired over 60 people and have continued to create new positions for new employees, but also for great current employees to be promoted. We wish you luck in your future endeavors and encourage you to keep an eye on our job postings.

Pros
Nice owner with nice bonus
Cons
Management really sucks they have double standards and don't understand everything their associate does.
Olympus Group Response

I'm really sorry you had a poor experience at Olympus. I really wish you would have personally come to me and discussed your concerns with your manager so I could have learned from it. I share my cell, email and meet with every team member regularly in an attempt to address concerns and so I can learn from you. It's disappointing when the first I hear of an issue is on a public posting, that said the situation and your frustrations are real and something we will work to address. I enjoyed my interactions with you and felt you had a bright future at Olympus. During your couple of months of employment with Olympus you were promoted and given a large pay increase in recognition of the ability and the work you performed. We hope you find a better fit/role that is more rewarding for you. Thanks-Brian Adam
