I worked at Omni Hotels (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of hours, above average Hotel occupation

    Cons

Too many politics at the Amelia Island Location

    Advice to Management

If one of your banquet captains has had many, many complaints written about them, you probably should look into it. People will take advantage of all of the slaps on the wrists and continue doing what they are doing. Don't be afraid to terminate bad employees.

I worked at Omni Hotels full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

benefits, and scheduling was pretty flexible

    Cons

I personally felt like upper management did not care about their employees, but only their management.

    Advice to Management

Fire the managers that are sleeping with the employees that are under them and trust good employees who have had NO problems until they wouldnt sleep with the new manager. This happened to me.

I worked at Omni Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay, excellent guest! Outstanding coworkers!

    Cons

Management in this department is pathetic! They do not care about you as an employee. Favoritism and likeness are your only allies in this department!

    Advice to Management

Putting our guests, and associates needs in the forefront of everything you do is a total lie! You should change your mission statement or practice what you preach!

    Pros

I love that it's never the same from one event to another.
     Fun place to work.
Great pay. Plenty of time off during off peak months.

    Cons

Crazy shifts, no set schedule or days off, but that's the nature of the beast.
     HR dept is clueless!
Management hiring employees that don't care or take pride in their jobs.
No real opportunity for advancement, they preach that they hire within but hey really don't.

    Advice to Management

Hire employees that work because they love what they do, not people that are here just for a paycheck, it makes it harder on the ones that go beyond what is required and have to pick up the slack.

I have been working at Omni Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy to move up and learn and grow within the company
Family owned and operated company. Not public and no franchise
    Great culture and training programs.

    Cons

Since it's a privately owned, there is no consistency for how each hotel is operated. There is a handbook and standard operating procedures, but every hotel does their own thing.

    Pros

Positive work atmosphere, I love it here. If you like animals and people you will enjoy it. Educating guests about wildlife is my favorite part. Manager and Supervisor really care about you and always there to help you.

    Cons

Slow season it becomes part time work.

    Pros

As a banquet waiter your tip is not horrible, especially for an area where most hotels just pay a flat hourly rate of $9-$10. The point usually is between $15-$20.

    Cons

Hateful management in banquets. Every manager, every captain. Rampant theft. Twice the whole department was quarantined so police could be called. The use a lot of temps that eat into the tip point and contribute almost nothing. ***NO ONE CAN WORK 16 hours and be back and effective the next day. ***Regularly scheduled 5:30 AM, clocked out after midnight and expected to return at 5:30AM.

    Advice to Management

Consider moving some of the banquet managers to other properties and bring in fresh, quality people with luxury hotel experience. Let you employees get some down time between shifts.
