I worked at Omni Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits
    Good pay
Ability to transfer to locations throughout the country and some in other countries
Ability to take up different positions within the company

    Cons

It's a hotel, open 24/7 365 days a year. Days, nights, weekends and holidays are all potential shifts.
Can be very stressful if not used to a hotel environment.

I have been working at Omni Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company makes you feel respected and makes you feel understood. They really do seem to go out of their way typically for employee needs.

    Cons

The homestead is very rural and it's hard to find employees. This unfortunately makes it harder to allow people to move on who are not with their correct company. This does constantly create resentment because many people have to work a lot harder to cover those who have learned to just coast through. There really is no easy fix it's a product of the labor pool in the area.

    Advice to Management

Maybe an employee club with a 2 drink max. A place where they can get reasonably priced food(burgers, pizza, dogs, nachos, etc) off the clock and shoot some pool maybe throw some darts with friends. Open until maybe 10 or 11. Personally I don't need it but this may help keep decent labor in the area and maybe even attract some. If inibration is a concern, understandably so also, maybe give out 2 drink tickets a day with the date n the cafeteria to ensure a limit.

I worked at Omni Hotels full-time

    Pros

Excellent opportunities to make connections with guests, other employees. Career advancement opportunities in hospitality. Chances for development in skills, great feedback, managers try very hard to appease employees while also doing their job.

    Cons

Culture/vission of the company difficult to maintain when departments feud. Breaks not allotted at specific times for employees.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that needs are heard and that employees feel valued.

    Pros

It's huge and I get to hire within my community.

    Cons

Insurance is very expensive and not very good, the hours are absolutely insane, 7580 hours a week is not uncommon when there is a special event . Also I believe their selection process and desire to promote from within seriously affects their culture. Culture changes from Ritz Carlton to four seasons to whatever other company and the new general manager worked for previously.

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on promoting from within. There is a good base was on these culture but a little bit more needs to be done to instill that culture. The awards can be bought, the respect of your associates cannot.
