I worked at Omni Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You meet a lot of great people/friends both coworkers and guests. I know this wasn't necessarily true for all departments but pay for my department with my needs as a single person was good.

    Cons

Managers seemed to give off a false sense of empathy. They would try to make situations better with solutions they knew weren't actual solutions but something that only benefitted (temporarily) their needs.

    Advice to Management

All departments needs to learn how to work as a whole but to do that management needs to get on the same page and work together to improve not only their own department but each others as well.

Omni has an awesome culture that is alive and well. It has opportunity for growth if you work hard . Coworkers and guest are great . No two days are ever the same.

    Cons

The hours are long but that is expected in the hotel industry.

    Advice to Management

Continue to provide training and support to the field.

I have been working at Omni Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Room discounts at some amazing properties across the country. Guests are generally great to deal with. Most co-workers are great as well.

    Cons

Low wages (Other Hotels pay up to $1.50 more per hour). Uncaring management. Talk of culture of Omni, but all they do is talk about it. Very little action that reflects their espoused culture. Believe that appreciation days make up for low wages (used to be twice a month, and now down to once a month). Little opportunity for advancement. HR tends to favor certain individuals, while leaving others out in the cold.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. You talk about engaging your associates and wanting their feed back to make the job better, but you really just want people who are going to say things are great.

I worked at Omni Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a three star hotel. You meet great people.

    Cons

The managers do not respect you at all. They build the position up and let you believe you are going to make a ton of money and then you don't even make minimum wage. They do not appropriately train you and let you learn on your own, but they expect you to give four diamond service. They do not give you the tools you need to do your job. They do not care about any issues you experience while working here, because they can easily replace you with a sad sap who thinks the place is great (takes about two months for them to figure it out). They have a high turn over rate, which means that the people who do work here dont want to. My advice to a future applicant: DO NOT APPLY HERE!!! and if you don't believe me, go to the Omni Richmond and ask the workers if they like their jobs. Ask more than one person, they will tell you.
