I worked at OmniPay full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are still some good people left working there. Free healthcare.

    Cons

OmniPay has spiraled down from a good place to work to a shambles of a company. Despite being profitable, staff, pay and benefits have been hacked to pieces to shore up the mounting losses and debts of it's parent company First Data. Non stop changes in reporting lines and zero interest in hiring or retaining talent have stripped OmniPay of anyone who could possibly save the place. The First Data upper management team...

    Advice to Management

I would advise the management of OmniPay to get out while they still have some shred of a reputation left.

I have been working at OmniPay for more than a year

    Pros

Nice people, VHI and pension are included, flexible hours

    Cons

The morale is very not good since the First Data takeover, bad pay, there have been redundancies recently and more are expected

    Advice to Management

Try to establish more control and show you are looking after the staff rather than looking after First Data

I have been working at OmniPay full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There is quite a few nice and enjoyable people in the company. Free healthcare. That is about it.

    Cons

Bean-counters, board and senior management in the First Data corporation have devastated a once good company to work for. Slashing of benefits, pension contributions and company events has lead to a wipe out of morale over the last few years. When this is coupled with insulting bonuses/increases, it lead to a raft of resignations. The response to this from First Data was to implement hiring freezes. Rather than attempt...

    Advice to Management

I don't believe the management in Dublin has much say. at all Everything is being directed from the accountant's/board in New York, with absolutely no regard towards staff, customers or anything else. They are oblivious to the need to keep staff content, are adversely affecting productivity, and consequently are driving the company into the ground. The singular global policy is not working, and it may be too late to stop...

    I worked at OmniPay

    Pros

I found OmniPay to be a friendly and welcoming work environment when I joined. I learned a lot about electronic payments and the tech needed to support this. If this is the direction you want your career to go in, Fintech, then this is an excellent company to join. They are growing and making money and seem to want more IT staff. The management are fair and seem a nice crowd. It was noticeable to me that the management...

    Cons

Parking is an issue... but there's an estate across the road where you can park. The company is owned by First Data and they stopped social spending... maybe OmniPay could look into doing a bit more around this issue.

    Advice to Management

If possible try to loosen First Data controls around social spending and hiring. If this is not possible, keep up the good work.

I have been working at OmniPay

    Pros

The people are very friendly. The work is quite interesting. You get to learn a lot about the payments domain. Salary is ok. There is plenty of work so no concerns about stability. There are a lot of people there who have a high level of expertise in their platform because they have been there 5+ years.

    Cons

The IPO and fact that they are getting fully absorbed now into First Data is bringing many changes, which is fine, but unfortunately the US management seem pretty clueless about 'internatiional' and tend to push out one-size-fits-all policies that don't fit at all.

    Advice to Management

The local senior management needs to push for a more localized set of policies and initiatives to avoid loosing their differentiation.

    I worked at OmniPay full-time

    Pros

Colleagues are generally helpful and cordial; the company is not overly strict about time keeping; A proactive individual will make potential future employment contacts outside the company in the wider financial payment industry.

    Cons

Opportunities for promotion are very rare. Communication from senior management is poor and almost non-existent. Software development is based around technologies from the 1990s. Line managers are more interested in covering their backsides than introducing improvements. The company is forced into cost cutting by it's American parent corporation (despite making huge profit) resulting in random hiring freezes and random...

Horrible atmosphere. Most unfriendly group of people I've ever had the misfortune to work for. Lots of back stabbing and cliques. Avoid at all costs.
