    Pros

Not being tied to one particular work area. You are able to explore other areas outside of your primary responsibility.

    Cons

Incompetent people. There were managers who were not supposed to be managers and PM's who were not qualified to be PMs.

    Advice to Management

    Hire better people.

    Pros

Great customer base. Omnicell used to have a great staff and good middle management, unfortuntely most if not all those people have moved on either by their own choice and were forced out.

    Cons

Extremely poor operations management. Dyfuntional management from company headquarters, company seems to lack any long term vision about it's staff. VP operations lived by this phrase regarding the operations staff. "Hire fast, fire faster." Not a good way to attract people of quality and it shows. I doubt upper management know or cares about how company is run, all they seemed to care about was what The Street thought of the company. Internally employee base ridicules customer base. They do not take customers suggestion seriously and out right ingore operations/install staff.

Sad because years ago when I joined Omnicell it was a great place to work and the best work expereince I had. It ended as one of the worst. I would not go back to work there without a large salary increase and a change in operations management and additude.

    Advice to Management

It's time to make some whole changes in upper management in the operations division. Spend some time doing some research into field operations and make wholesale changes where needed. That dividion is THE face of your company and right now it's the face of discontent. No one I worked with was happy with the way things were going.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

care more about who you hire and treat those at lower levels with respect. make morale a priority

I worked at Omnicell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent breakrooms and exercise room.

    Cons

Benefits are terrible. Little to no professional growth is possible. Some managers are very incompetent. This shows that this company has no vision if they hire and promote incompetent people.

    Advice to Management

Management should be held by qualified personnel. Managers in this company definitely would not have equivalent positions in any other company.

I have been working at Omnicell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great new building, equipment, conf rooms, WiFi

    Cons

Very hard to thrive in an environment where the distance between those empowered and those who are powerless gets larger every day. Respect is not earned easily. Too many reorganizations of middle management and too few leaders at the top. Compared to any other silicon valley software company this one truly lacks vision.

    Advice to Management

Take heed from HP and walk among the people, listen to ideas, shift the sands less often. Stick to a vision to grow people Internally who are in different ranks than top tier.

I worked at Omnicell full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The engineering team is very helpful. Work environment is also good and practices followed like agile scrum.

    Cons

    A Lot:
To get to the next level you must be NASA scientist. Management help is negligible for your career growth. To grow in the company you must be pleasing the entire menagement. For any open senior position the company never considers to promote their employees to excel their career. Very poli tics at every stage. The older employees in top management demonstrate themselves as they are always there to help grow in career but in actual they are dictators. Overall it is a management driven company.

    Advice to Management

This is really funny. What advice will you give to management when they only are dysfunctional. Although my advices will be to get rid of those dictators.

    Pros

very few - parking - location - weather

    Cons

The worst. So fake. So many ego's. Terrible environment. There is so much better going on out there in the robotics world right now where you are treated so much better. I was there long enough to literally be disgusted with what I saw. Need to get their act together. Bunch of lies right in same meetings were people know it. Pay attention to facial expressions. It's terrible. I was not the first nor will the last to go.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying and promoting people who do. It is poision. Lot of backstabbing - pay attention. Good luck.

I worked at Omnicell (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is well positioned with few competitors in their niche. Employees can (and do) work 10:00 to 4:00 and are encouraged to take time off from their day to work out at the company gym. Pay is competitive, bonus program is based on objectives that are part of what you would do anyway, and ESPP discount is 15% with a 2 year roll-over.

    Cons

Software management are former engineering developers with no training in management. Favoritism, intimidation, scapegoating, and poor decision making are not uncommon. If you're comfortable with slacking off, not making waves, and living in a Dilbert cartoon, you'll go far.

    Advice to Management

Understand your role to support your team, not just boss them around. Refer to the Professional Code of Ethics in Software Engineering.

I have been working at Omnicell (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of truly dedicated co workers that are great at what they do and leading industry products you can be proud to be associated with.

    Cons

So many Con's don't know where to begin. Highly Political, Lies Lies and more Lies. Management is deceiving, backstabbing, dysfunctional. Poor Pay, below area standards. Workload not reasonable for work life balance. New acquisition has the company upside down even more so than before. If you have any other job offer take it over this place, you won't last long. Horrible!! Most of the truly talented people have left or are heading out the door.

    Advice to Management

Show some consideration for your employees and let them know you value their work, stop acting like you are doing everyone a favor by having a job at your company. Hire some consultants to come in and offer a total RE DO..
