I worked at Omnitracs full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Generous PTO policy Downtown location You can add skills and work experience to help improve your résumé for future job applications

    Cons

Very significant lack of career mobility Dishonest executive team Tremendous disconnect across the organization High turnover and low pay relative to other companies in the area Pay for parking. Enjoy your DART pass if you don’t want to pay up This place is great if you don’t want to work very hard and have zero career ambitions

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and don’t make promises that you can’t keep. Do yourselves a favor and sell the company so that someone else can school you on how to grow the business

I have been working at Omnitracs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Improved PTO Relax atmosphere Some nice people

    Cons

Low pay - It’t way below local market average, not to mention nationally. More than half of the people attending the same “new hire orientation” with me from a year ago have already left the company. Turnover rate is very high. You are not appreciated - Promotion is almost impossible. They will just fill that senior position by someone else new. Because the HR will only get credit by finding “new talent” but not... promoting someone who is already with the company. Some NOT so nice people - There are more than average grumpy people in this organization. While I can tolerate my kids at home, I don’t like deal with “kids” at work.

    Advice to Management

This is obvious: pay a competitive compensation. Otherwise, you will just train people for some other companies.

I worked at Omnitracs full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are some really amazing people that work at Omnitracs. They offer a DART pass that is really convenient for the most part. Schedule flexibility and the ability to work from home are really awesome, although work from home is becoming popular at other places as well. The 5 weeks vacation starting out is really good, but you have to remember to use it or you'll lose most of it.

    Cons

Low pay. That's the biggest con. Not to mention even when the tried to bring it up to be more competitive, it still was a big let down with more senior employees still making less than new hires. They won't really let you move to different projects that interest you more, even when they say they will. They'll just string you along for 2 years, then move you. You'll most likely be stuck working on legacy... code that needs to be redone but instead they'll just put a bandaid on it and move it to production. And some of the people. It gets very cliquish here. People had to go 3 months offsite to learn angular 7 and they refuse to associate with out people anymore. Also some of the younger people on different projects don't like to associate with people not on their projects.

    Advice to Management

Money is a big factor. If you can't pay your employees a better wage, don't acquire new companies constantly. The work environment is becoming toxic, have more team building excursions for all of engineering so it can be less cliquish. And you really need to pay people more. It's a must. But Mr. Greer is doing a better job as CEO as the previous CEO. Although that really isn't hard since he ran the company in to the... ground.

    "No Direction"

I have been working at Omnitracs full-time for less than a year

    Pros

People are good to work with. Very chill place to work as long as you get your work done.

    Cons

Management has no direction. You don't know whats coming next until they put a rigorous deadline on you. Low pay is a real issue so high turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

If you want employees to stay and put their all into a project pay them right and let them know you appreciate all of the hard work,

I have been working at Omnitracs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people on my team are great to work with, we get along well. I have learned a lot that I wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn elsewhere.

    Cons

Low pay Don't want to promote High turn over rate Hire only non-experienced people so there is constant confusion around everything

    Advice to Management

Promote your people from within where possible instead of putting out recs for senior level. At this point there are people with 2 years experience that can do more for the company than a brand new senior level.

I have been working at Omnitracs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Recreational area, Dart Pass, Worklife-Balance/Job Security.

    Cons

Extremely Low pay. If you show that you are somewhat competent, they will work you to the bone while others get paid not showing up to work. You will be told that the company is not doing too well and not get a raise but manager favorites will still get 3k raises. Morale is at an all time low. Turnover is high. If you look at the reviews, only people happy are managers. Pay raises are promotions so do not stay... longer than one year, otherwise, you will get trapped with a "Sr" title which will negatively affect future job prospects since you will not have the experiences of a Sr.

    Advice to Management

At this point, there is little to say that hasn't been said. Also, don't tell your employees to just leave if they are unhappy.

Some good hours. Okay-ish benefits(discounted gym, health insurance, etc)

    Cons

Low pay. 401k matching is sub-par and not quarterly. Unwilling to hire additional people for mountain of work.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people and hire more.

I worked at Omnitracs for more than a year

    Pros

The only benefit I got from this company were the people I worked with. They office has a unique set up because it's considered an open work environment. Which is also a negative because you have no privacy on your work computer.

    Cons

Omnitracs has a very high turnover rate and pays well below the market average. They offer college grads a job straight out of college and that is how they trap you. Management and above do not care if you decide to leave because of low pay. They will hire another "HPEL" at a low amount and have them work for a year. You are not a person when you work there you are just a number on a spreadsheet that can be easily... replaced. The people they have in charge are not the people that need to be in charge. People are put in charge that have no managerial experience and it ends up hurting the people they are in charge of. It's an interesting experience the first couple of months you are there. After that you realize how horrible the company actually is and how they treat their employees.
