I have been working at On Board Engineering full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Steady job. Employees are nice and most are easy to work with. Fairly relaxed atmosphere - as long as you get your work done and your mark-up is sufficient.

    Cons

Communication between management and employee is terrible. Terrible benefits, no raises, no increase in vacation over the years, no room to move other than laterally. The worst part is the lying and gaslighting from management. Promises of raises or benefits never fulfilled, negative reviews from clients go back onto the employee rather than the owner or managers.

    Advice to Management

Better (or any) communication between management and employee about anything other than the current client/job.

I worked at On Board Engineering full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company found my resume online and the job itself way great. I work as a contact work for OnBoard inside one of their clients office.

    Cons

The only downfall was the communication from the company to employees not working with their physical office.

I have been working at On Board Engineering full-time

    Pros

It beats standing in the unemployment line, and it's long term assignments. Owned by the Carlyle Group, which is more prosperous than most venture capitalists.

    Cons

Bad benefits, broken verbal agreements, and On Board will not spend a dime if they can pass the cost on to the employee or the customer. Teflon-coated friends and family employees whom are not held accountable for incompetence.

    Advice to Management

    Improve the benefits packages.

I have been working at On Board Engineering full-time

    Pros

The fact that I had a job.

    Cons

Company is trying to grow to quickly and doesn't know what they are doing with the contracts they do have. It is embarrassing to work for a company that has no idea how to do the minimum requirements for it's clients. No true focus, it is all about getting the job and then not knowing what to do once they have it. This review is not only for Engineering but for the entire family of On-Board Services and PMO sites. This is a family owned and operated business and instead of hiring competent people they hire family and family friends that dictate a very bad business plan. it is a shame, the owner is very nice and genuinely wants to succeed the right way but he is getting terrible advise from the family and friends that he has placed.

    Advice to Management

Before taking a client make sure you have a full understanding of the requirements they expect. Have a real plan before taking the contract and always have procedures in place to handle such demands. Going in with a "We'll take it as it comes" attitude with be the demise of this company. Unfortunately this one is going to hurt - you really need to get rid of some of your friends and family that are currently working there, they are in a lot of cases ill prepared to handle the tasks at hand and are taking the company in a direction that will be very difficult to come back from.
