I worked at Once Upon A Child part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Discount on merchandise, flexible schedule

    Cons

Management and staff extremely unprofessional, gossips about employees. Working here is like going to high school all over again.

    Advice to Management

Keep it professional, don't bash employees in front of others, don't discuss employees' personal life around others.

I have been working at Once Upon A Child

    Pros

Flexible schedule easy to get time off, nice employees , easy to get hired nothing else good to say here

    Cons

You start off a bare minimum wage they tell you you will get raises quick but the raises are around 7 cents you deal with rude customers and management you do way to much for 7.35 a hour you clean the entire store, run every item you tag, you ring customers up, do returns and exchanges as well as assist customers on floor, sort through clothing and tag more your pressured to have everything perfect at night but get... nothing in return write ups come with almost every tiny mistake you make you also can’t have fake nails to work here and there’s a dress code so pretty much your in a t shirt, sweatshirt and jeans all the time

I have been working at Once Upon A Child part-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, first selection of incoming merchandise if you have children to shop for, 20% employee discount, closed on major holidays

    Cons

Low wages for the amount of responsibilities, work done & etc, lack of appreciation/gratitude shown, favoritism shown to certain employees, difficult work environment at times, low/not enough staff especially when you are sick or have a family emergency & you don't have anyone to cover your shift, not enough support in completing closing tasks from the store manager/owner in order to go home at decent time

    Advice to Management

Pay your staff well and show appreciation MORE OFTEN especially those who have been working there for longer than 2 years, try to screen your future job applicants more closely and ask for feedback from your long term employees/keyholders, don't be afraid to terminate a employee who has history of not showing up for work (ie calling out sick constantly, pulling no call/no shows MORE THAN once) and who has created... drama and problems within the store and its staff, be the example that you want to set for your employees (in other words be a leader & a motivator NOT just the boss/owner of the store), be MORE SUPPORTIVE in helping your employees with closing tasks (besides closing the registers & filling out paperwork) at closing time so we can all go home at a decent time to our families (there is no "I" in the word "teamwork")

I worked at Once Upon A Child full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Great job for retail. No excessive hours during the holidays. Great regular customers. Good pay.

    Cons

Very angry customers when you don't buy their dirty or very old used clothing. Small place, can be lots of drama with co-workers. Owners micro-manage. No benefits.

    Advice to Management

Let the managers manage the store. Give praise where praise is due.
