    Pros

    Remote working possible
    Fair pay
    Flexible scheduling promotes work/life balance

    Cons

Constantly changing direction "we're conservative underwriters" one quarter, "we're aggressive salesmen" the next.
    Job security is iffy.
Management appears to be trying to load up the top line for a sale - less concerned with the loss ratio or claims down the line.

    Advice to Management

Remember there are people behind the numbers. Set a course and try to stick to it for a little while to promote morale, effort and productivity.

    Pros

Can be a nice place to work with great people decent pay and benefits. Farmington office has modern desks with the option to switch easily from sitting to standing.

    Cons

Not much in the way of advancement opportunities unless you are in the clique of favorites. Very small bonuses unless you are in the upper echelon. CEO used to be great but sudden changes in values and culture caused many to jump ship and go to competitors. They continue to eliminate positions in all departments periodically without warning although they do provide a generous severance package.

    Advice to Management

Be cognizant of employee morale if you want to keep valuable underwriters. Explore redeployment options before sentencing talented people to the chopping block.

    Pros

None to speak of unfortunately - unable to provide any positive feedback as the company is no longer worth working for.

    Cons

Used to be a great place to work until changes in senior management took place. Now a sweat shop. Underwriting talent, expertise and integrity which was previously the pride of the company no longer exists. If you want to work in a place that promotes poor morale, long hours of overtime, poor pay, nasty unappreciative managers and zero reward for your efforts - this is the place for you!

    Advice to Management

Inconsistent management and poor communication across the organization. Talented underwriters no longer respected or able to do their jobs with integrity and autonomy with the new regime in place. Employees are treated like dumb worker bees and compensation only goes to the big bosses. Shame on you.

    Pros

Team oriented in that they do fun team building activities that help to promote a peaceful work environment. Upper management ready to listen when ideas present themselves

    Cons

Understaffed, and over worked, not enough help when a job is on a deadline, needs to be more flexible with number of employees working at a particular function

    Pros

Pay & Benefits were good but these also could be negatives. They were paying me way too much for my job. I was being paid to make copies and data enter 50% of my time.

    Cons

Middle managers need training on how to handle sticky situations.

    Pros

Very challenging environment (in a good way) these past few years as the company fulfilled its mission to be a specilaty insurance company.

    Cons

As the company changed its focus, jobs were effected. Numerous RIFs over the years resulting in a major loss of historical knowledge and experience.

    Advice to Management

Be a bit more appreciative of those "little people' who got the organization to where it is today.

    Pros

    Flexible working schedule
    Remote/work from home options

    Cons

Top heavy and lot's of office politics.
Also health benefits keep changing to the absolute lowest cost provider.

    Advice to Management

Modernize. Adapt faster. Provide tech making it possible to perform duties efficiently. Current technologies are antiquated, and there is little dynamicism.

    Pros

The people are great. The employees get free gym access. Management likes that employees use the gym even during lunch time. The products that are offered are solid.

    Cons

The leadership is lacking. It is top heavy (think inverted pyramid). The company recently lost its President and the environment has had a nervous energy going through it ever since. The company has staffing problems. Employees are expected to perform additional work without recognition. There is a lack of training which handicaps anyone who wants to grow. The company structure has to be rethought as it currently goes against common sense. The structure leads to redundancies especially on the Operations side of the business. The technology used is outdated and its a major factor in inefficient use of work time.

    Advice to Management

There are fantastic and skilled people who work here. Make sure they are acknowledged properly and pay them accordingly. Institute a training program so that your employees want to grow within the company. Provide your employees with good technology so that they can perform their duties more efficiently.
