I worked at OneWest Bank full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Opportunity to move up as long as you remain at the branch Level - Other Branches are more then willing to help when can because they all know what it is like to be short staffed - A lot of employees that have been with the company for several years, offering a wealth of knowledge when you need help

    Cons

-Senior Management Micromanages, and lies about what industry standards are to justify why they are making a policy change -Management Does Not Value Branch Level Employees -Systems in place cause a lot of errors, but management holds the people responsible for system errors -The Employee is way down the list of priorities, behind the shareholder, the customer, and the companies reuptation -The... overall compensation package is not worth the headache created by working here -If you are looking to move from the Retail Branch into a corporate role, you will almost always be overlooked for an external candidate. Nearly all of the Senior Management was hired externally

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanging, and start valuing your employees by actually being competative and not just claim that you are. People work for you for less money because you are not a large bank with ridiculous sales goals and corporate red tape. Without any advancement appotunity outside of the branch and below compensation, people are better off working elsewhere because you do not value employees at all.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good training, nice people. Good place to start if you are looking at banking.

    Cons

Low salary, do not like to promote to management from within. Upper management has clicks.

    Advice to Management

Keep sales and growth goals/ expectations realistic. There is a reason OWB isn’t as big as it could be. OWB should learn to crawl before they can walk.
