    Pros

    Paid well
    M-F, for the most part.
    OT available

    Cons

Telling people they were about to lose their homes is not a nice thing to do. Why do you think the CEOs of banks created those positions? So that THEY wouldn't have to be the ones to do it.

I have been working at OneWest Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

CIT has purchased so maybe things will become more professional

    Cons

Low pay and no overtime even with branches staffed with only 2 employees at times. Lunches and breaks are late or not given.

    Advice to Management

President and upper management make BIG money and is reported in the media. But can't get a 2 percent increase for my team.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a growing company which provided opportunities to learn. There were lots of smart, hard-working people there. They wanted to deliver great customer service.

    Cons

Senior management only wanted to make money for the investors. The employees doing all the work were not valued or appreciated. Investements in employees' education, career growth, and leadership/professional skills was limited or non-existent.

    Advice to Management

Care about the employees and the money and customer service will come as a result of that priority.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Location was perfect right next to the domain and parking was not bad. They had food trucks that is about it for pro's.

    Cons

They laid off a lot of people and the place is so disorganized. People were constantly getting fired or quitting.

    Advice to Management

Not much to say since management was worthless and never gave direction. Maybe figure out how to run a successful organization.

I have been working at OneWest Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Have a/c and heat. That's all i could think of.

    Cons

The company is very unorganized. Supervisors don't care about employees. Employees are lazy and dishonest. That's the kind of environment that you'll see. Come and work if you need money, but if you want a professional career, then apply somewhere else. Any where but here.

    Advice to Management

    Please resign.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

At one time there was a nice work atmosphere. They were not strict about the dress code or when you came and went.

    Cons

Awful raises. You are only allowed a 5% raise if you are promoted and if you do great at your job the best you can do is 3% raise. Some very bad managers that make change when it is not need just so it look as if they are doing something. Top doesn't care about bottom and everyone there is fairly miserable and doesn't think very highly of the company.

    Advice to Management

Look at what works before making change. Treat people with respect.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There is a minority of employees who are professional and talented

    Cons

Lack of cooperation between the different departments makes working there extremely difficult
    Lack of standards
Lack of honesty amongst many of the employees at all levels
Managing through politics and favoritism and not merit
Rotating in and out 1/3 of there staff every year is not a indication of a healthy and productive environment
Cost saving initiatives that only impact employees at a lower level while waste is prevalent at the senior management level and above.
Low moral given the fact that the company's directive is to benefit the small investor group by giving a return on there investment as quickly as possible and not investing in the future because the true end state is to sell the company and not grow it.

    Advice to Management

Stop touting that your employees are your greatest asset. Your actions are contrary to that statement. The lack of communication and secrecy only fosters animosity and doubt throughout the organization. It is clear that those that were part of the original investment team have benefited greatly from the acquisition of Indymac Bank.

I have been working at OneWest Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Some really good and intelligent people if you're lucky enough to find them who will always give you great advice and look out for you. The life/career lessons I learned from them were the most valuable take away from working here.

    Cons

    - Extreme incompetence at nearly every level. Every bloated department seems to have a handful of people who do 99% of the work while other (often more senior) employees are permitted to run their mouths and play a silly corporate gossip game that makes them feel relevant.

    - Pitifully low compensation and with the company being sold at some point in the future, resources are being cut razor thin including your bonus and comp. Inflationary/Merit raises are not a thing here. Promotions will typically involve a paltry 2-3% raise

    - Very low morale as a lot of talent was let out the door as a result of a partial sale in 2013. Near zero accountability for shoddy 2-bit work (Austin, TX) which has cultivated a culture of sweeping problems under the rug and a 'shoot the messenger' mentality

    - Pervasive attitude being that you are lucky to have a job at all

    - Bank ran by wall street folks and an 'inner circle' that enjoys feeling exclusive and insulated, like kids in a treehouse. Hollow brand name with even more vapid "cultural values" that attempt to create a "front".

    Advice to Management

Executive MGMT: I have zero confidence in your ability to run any semblance of a functional bank. Stick to wall street.

Senior MGMT: Appreciate the employees who really add value and stop pushing them to the breaking point on account of those who aren't carrying their weight. OWB is a meat grinder.
