    Pros

401k matching is 4%, Health benefit is good, if you are lucky you can get a great manager, excellent work life balance, lacks complete product suite so sales targets are easy to achieve since you will only be selling mortgages and deposit accounts. Great place for lazy people.

    Cons

Nepotistic management, middle management does not know what they are doing, HR is horrible, managers make so many mistakes and get away with it. Very slow in credit approval. Divided among various cultures: pre and post merger, east coast vs. west coast employees, etc.

    Advice to Management

Come to California and look closely at your middle management staff and hold them responsible for (lack of) their actions.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary was better than I was expecting. Location in the Domain is awesome.

    Cons

My supervisor encouraged gossiping and actually pitted team members against one another. Lots of unprofessional behavior tolerated.

    Advice to Management

Stop pitting employees against one another and encourage working together as a team. Stop allowing childish behavior and bullying. Hire people with the skills and background to do the job.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Small bank. Direct access to leadership. Higher rates on deposit products and a good place to park your money. Autonomy to lead.

    Cons

No technology and poor leadership and upper management. Ridiculous goals for a small company with very few branches. Expectations of small branches to be people's primary bank without what it takes to ensure that actually happens.

    Advice to Management

Live in reality. Your only serve one purpose and that is high interest savings. Few will ever use you as a primary bank. Your technology is mediocre at best and business technology is nonexistent.

    Pros

    Don't really see any pros.

    Cons

Dollar amount brought in is weighed differently, if you bring in $1 mill. CD, you only get accounted for 10% towards your goal. Incentives are a joke, get paid quarterly, a good banker will only bring in $1000

    Advice to Management

Sales goals are ridiculous, low income locations will not have million dollar clients, how can you expect large sales goals and then punish your employees?

    Pros

The branch will feel like family. Unlike a large bank there are several repeat clients that you will become invested in which makes it exciting to see them and help. It will also make it easier to sale as they will trust you. The training department is the best set of people in the entire corporation at least prior to the merger.

    Cons

Promotion is a combination of nepotism and weird corporate version of tenure. The HR department is the worst. The sales campaigns are the same every quarter but they will expect you to sale it like a new product every time. Branch managers are a operations/ KYC nightmare. The assistant manager will be your branch manager.

    Advice to Management

Now that CIT is involved have them remove the HR department in Pasadena. Get a fresh start at supporting employees. Constantly review branch managers and test their hands on knowledge it would be a great benefit to the entire branch to have a fully competent manager.
