    Pros

The people I worked with where driven to succeed. They were very helpful and we always looked out for each other. This made work enjoyable

    Cons

Being laid off. Well I actually wasnt laid off but I was contract. My renew also were only one month at a time due to company wide lay offs.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to interact with other departments. If you don't the company will continue to stay on the same path.

I have been working at OneWest Bank part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity for entry into banking or banking management. The people are generally nice to work with. Better culture than the big banks.

    Cons

Some of the systems, technologies and processes are antiquated. A constant challenge is staffing. The company constantly struggled to have the right branch staffing which would impact the client experience and the employee experience as meal break were difficult to manage with short staffing issues. Limited room for growth once you are a VP as there aren't many opening at the next level.

    Advice to Management

Place a greater value on employee satisfaction. Empower the branches to hire the right staffing needs ad measure against a true P&L versus a scorecard that doesn't paint a clear picture of profitability.

I have been working at OneWest Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay.
Employees are very nice-I have great relationships with lots of people. Mean age I'd say is early 40's with families.
    Pretty healthy leadership culture.
    Decent Benefits.

    Cons

Really white collar corporate culture (i'm not into that..). No real raises. Employees are usually at unease because of how fast the company gets bought out. People leave quite often. Long hours. Unpaid lunches.

    Advice to Management

Casual culture could go a long way.

    Pros

    Paid well
    M-F, for the most part.
    OT available

    Cons

Telling people they were about to lose their homes is not a nice thing to do. Why do you think the CEOs of banks created those positions? So that THEY wouldn't have to be the ones to do it.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

OWB gave me great opportunity to grow as an individual by allowing me to take on new projects. I was surrounded by a great team where we all helped each other.

    Cons

Started off with a great culture but towards the end of the merger, the team fell apart and great people started leaving or were let go. Things may change perhaps after the merger.

    Advice to Management

Its understandable that a business is there to make money but senior management could make the effort to spend more time to get to know individuals. You can also make your company grow if you send employees off to training.

    Pros

CIT has purchased so maybe things will become more professional

    Cons

Low pay and no overtime even with branches staffed with only 2 employees at times. Lunches and breaks are late or not given.

    Advice to Management

President and upper management make BIG money and is reported in the media. But can't get a 2 percent increase for my team.

    Pros

It was a growing company which provided opportunities to learn. There were lots of smart, hard-working people there. They wanted to deliver great customer service.

    Cons

Senior management only wanted to make money for the investors. The employees doing all the work were not valued or appreciated. Investements in employees' education, career growth, and leadership/professional skills was limited or non-existent.

    Advice to Management

Care about the employees and the money and customer service will come as a result of that priority.

I worked at OneWest Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Location was perfect right next to the domain and parking was not bad. They had food trucks that is about it for pro's.

    Cons

They laid off a lot of people and the place is so disorganized. People were constantly getting fired or quitting.

    Advice to Management

Not much to say since management was worthless and never gave direction. Maybe figure out how to run a successful organization.
