I worked at Online Resources full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Well run company, most talented group of developers and technology management professionals I've ever had the pleasure of working with. CEO was a true visionary and passionate leader, would do it all over again.

    Cons

Unfortunate series of financial events and economic downturn lead to demise. Those who aspire to great challenges must take risks, without the absolute economic collapse and recession, who knows where the company would be now.

    Advice to Management

Nice run while it lasted! The technology platform is amazing, advice to new management, don't waste it, open source it so it could live on.

I worked at Online Resources full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It was close to home and I did make some friends. The schedule I had was good and that's about it.

    Cons

The upper management micromanage (among other things) and boy do they make false promises. To get promoted? Well, let's just say you're more likely to get oil from a water spout. It is like high school all over again and if you are not in the "in club" then you can forget about moving forward.

    Advice to Management

If management were to see this then they need to really look hard at their employees and truly listen to what they say. They may actually learn something.

I worked at Online Resources full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Close to home, smart people, well-designed products

    Cons

I came onboard after the company's first layoff and pay reduction, which greatly impacted my employemnt. Leadership at this 25+ year-old company changed during the second year leading to a new vision and shifts in the support of their product line. Unfortunately, the remaining products being sold are still an unknown to many, as they were part of an acquisition during the company's growth period, and the clients were often frustrated by the lack of product knowledge.

    Pros

ORCC has excellent benefits, competitive pay, and is very flexible with vacation schedules, unpaid leave, and working hours. Established employees are permitted to have flex-schedules, work from home (at times), and in limited cases - work remotely if they move out of the state. IT support is competent and ORCC keeps technology and internal tools current. Expense reimbursements are flexible and ORCC works around your schedule for business travel. ORCC has a structured annual review process so performance feedback is standardized and constructive. HR support is top-notch.

    Cons

There are a few great execs and directors - but there are a few mediocre leaders too. Most of the worst execs and directors were released from the company in 2010.

Prior to 2010, promotions were mostly based mostly on politics and relationships, not performance so there were quite a few unqualified Directors/VPs. Since 2010, the company had made effort to correct this problem.

    Pros

Most people in management are nice.
    Ok health benefits
Some perks that other companies do not have like pet insurance.

    Cons

Management tends to have big egos that they can't seem to get rid of.
    You will be micromanaged.
    Did I say micromanaged?

    Advice to Management

Start trusting your employees. Start a good training program that isn't basic information. Make manager responsible for training program. Give raises.
