I have been working at OpenClinica full-time

    Pros

I have worked with this company for about a year or so and it's been great. Since it is a small to mid-sized company there is a lot of opportunity to grow. The people are great to work with and there's not too much of a feeling of pressure.

    Cons

Get ready to work hard since it is a small company. It is also a software company so being uncomfortable with learning something new computer related is something to be comfortable with.

I have been working at OpenClinica full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

OpenClinica is a first-rate organization. The leadership is extremely accessible, experienced and is able to draw out the best in the staff. A true collaborative, team environment that is committed to it's customers and strives to innovate and maintain position as a tier 1 provider in the clinical trial software domain. It's highly motivating to come to the office each day and be surrounded by highly intelligent individuals who are all committed and devoted to winning!

    Cons

I truly don't have a negative thing to say.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work.

I have been working at OpenClinica full-time

    Pros

A lot of companies lose their adventurous, entrepreneurial spirit (and thus their employee engagement) at some milestone, like age, size or number of customers. OpenClinica has been around for 11 years and has a terrific and growing customer base. But the atmosphere has all the best elements of a start-up. Everyone's empowered to make a difference, and expected to, whether they're in software development, quality or customer success. Biggest pros:

    - supportive, experienced leaders who want to hire talent, not people to "boss"
    - smart, approachable dev team
    - client service team that really knows (and loves) clinical trial operations
    - friendly, collaborative people in every role

    Cons

Totten Pond Road in Waltham isn't Kendall Square or one of the hipper Boston addresses. So that could be a con if 'trendy location' is high on your list. That said, our suite is spacious, clean, and stocked with plenty of java.

    Advice to Management

Maintain this culture and great things will continue to happen.

    Pros

Great people who care, intelligent colleagues who raise the bar & stimulate, fantastic industry, rock-solid product with great product/market fit

    Cons

I do a good job being unbias, and honestly, I am hard pressed to think of a negative or con...There is so much good about the office that what little cons may pop up are greatly outweighed. I wished the company was bigger perhaps? So more people could enjoy the culture we're building.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. The product, people, and overall culture & direction of the company are pretty damn good. Keep growing and take over the entire floor of the building ;-)

    Pros

Everyone is incredibly helpful. If you don't know something, someone does and will be willing to help you. The leadership is fantastic as they actively connect with all members of the company.

    Cons

Work can be challenging but rewarding. Not really a con but there is a lot of freedom to work at your own pace, which is dangerous for someone.

    Pros

Small company but with high potential. Close-knit environment.

    Cons

Sometimes deadlines are ridiculous. Timings are in total control of the founders. People come and leave all the time. Not so competitive package.

I worked at OpenClinica (Less than a year)

    Pros

The leaders of this company have a fantastic understanding of the business and their vision is inspiring. The product is useful and is really making a difference in the world. It is a small company and the owners really do care about the employees, their happiness, and the quality of the product. It really is like a family here, full of good people.

The leaders of the company really do invest in their employees and the office.

    Cons

    - Hard issues around staffing, resourcing, and compensation were often acknowledged but not acted on
    - Lots of "band-aid" fixes in infrastructure. Leadership is willing to address these items, it just takes a while to filter the resources in the right places
    - There was a lot of residual "bad attitude" when I was there. The bad apples were mostly gone, but the vibe of the office wasn't very pleasant
    - From a product perspective, EDC isn't the most exciting thing to work on, but the company is making a difference in the world
    - Waltham location made it hard to recruit and hire

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to make changes and hard decisions re: staffing and resourcing. Keep investing in the right places.

I have been working at OpenClinica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My colleagues at OpenClinica are über bright and an absolute pleasure to work with. Great potential to learn and advance within an exciting, quick-growth life sciences company. At OpenClinica, there is a culture of forward-thinking people with the primary goal of finding the best way of helping the global community conduct clinical research more effectively and efficiently.

    Cons

As with any small company, resource allocation and life balance can be a bit challenging.

I have been working at OpenClinica full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - The company is rather small, so you get to interact with all teams, whether it's top management, Client Services or developers, which in turn helps everyone be on the same page and share a common vision.
    - The people are fun, ambitious and solution-oriented
    - Everyone is friendly and professional
    - Flexible schedule and time-off
    - A great environment for growth, both personal and professional

    Cons

    - Small company with limited human and financial resources. Sometimes not everything on the to-do list makes it to the top, but I guess it's part of the process a growing company goes through.

    Pros

The company has an infrastructure of a medium sized company and it gives an immense opportunity to learn, develop and lead. The management encourages growth and development-- forward thinking leadership.
Team is really smart and passionate about their job and the product. The company is invested in open community giving an opportunity to share ideas -which very few companies offer in health care.

    Cons

The Company could benefit from more engineers.
