I have been working at OpenText full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

OpenText isn't too different from a lot of companies. When you find an opportunity to add value you need to take advantage of it. Don't pass up too many chances.

Hard work with good results is rewarded.

    Cons

Less opportunities are available in satellite offices.
OpenText is a business driven rather than a technology driven company.

I have been working at OpenText full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company is growing! OpenText has been very good to me.

    Cons

Growth without a clear integration plan.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees with experience on the company you want to become. Create clear and thoughtful organizational structures with clear roles and responsibilities. Determine if you are suffering from the 80-20 rule. 20% of the employees doing 80% of the work?

    Pros

Working from home that what keeps me with company. Salary motivation and the people I work with they are so awesome. You learn new stuff every time.

    Cons

No training provided, you should have the ability to self learning. No micro management, support many customers and clients.

    Advice to Management

Bring back the award of excellence, make the job place l a competitive like it used to be. Too many process that don't make sense new lot of reviews.

I worked at OpenText full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very good benefits and competitive compensation. Teams I worked in were very stable as the team members were long-time employees.

    Cons

Some of the technologies used for development were somewhat outdated, which is understandable considering some of the company technologies being promoted (fax anyone?).

    Advice to Management

Overall, management does a good job communicating what the company goals and objectives are. However, they could do better positioning the various teams to drive toward those goals.

    Pros

Very successful and growing company. Multiple acquisitions each year provides plenty of opportunities to learn many different types of software.

    Cons

Drive for very high margin leaves some parts of the business under-staffed. This in turn increases levels of stress on staff.

I worked at OpenText (More than a year)

    Pros

Great engineering and architectural talent. Everyone knew how to perform their job and work as a team.

    Cons

I worked for a manager that was a total tyrant, (not the manager that hired me). This guy was trying to steal accounts from me even before he was my manager, I should have gotten HR involved, but I didn't know how. I would still go back to work for the company in a flash.

    Advice to Management

Company was great to work for, manager must have sold them a bill of goods.
