I worked at Openet full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Close to darth line - Spar nearby. - Cheap rent in flats around the area.

    Cons

    - Complete lack of processes to manage the simplest things, such as fixing bugs. Truly an organizational chaos. Some issues in the bug queue were more than 2 years old. You won't believe the disbelief of the on-site integration engineers when I started picking them up and solving them. It was like poor orphans having Christmas for the first time. - Lethargic management. They had conference calls with customers, which seem upset to a level of despair due to multiple issues with the software. At the end of the call, they would burst into laughs. Multiple complaints from employees regarding lack of processes that resulted in the issues received a shrug from the manager followed by giggles. My manager was supposed to assign issues for me to fix and other tasks, but I had to practically beg the guy for work. - Uncivil behavior. One of the developers had a stutter and many times I have seen my manager and others in his group mocking the guy behind his back. But the worst was some unknown employee in the building actually defecating on the bathroom floor multiple times as some sort of sick joke. They never catch him to my knowledge. A lot of people are very noisy and disrespectful to other people in the company (one guy for instance with a "the good, the bad and the ugly" ringtone blasting at full volume on his mobile phone ten times a day or people having conference calls right beside you talking loudly). Every time someone outside the company would visit, HR had to shout an email saying "We have visitors in the building. Please behave.". The place felt like a pub. - Bad location. Not a nice place Dublin 12. Sometimes people would be fearful of gangs damaging or stealing their cars parked in front of the building.

I worked at Openet for more than 3 years

    Pros

I was hired on a contract basis; the job was full-on and I did a lot of extra hours. This paid off hugely; I got promoted very quickly and received the opportunity to work various different projects in different locations after I requested some travel. I learnt new skills and have great experience on my CV now. I can command a significantly higher salary now as a result of my time with this company. The place is filled with intelligent, decent, interesting people. You are treated as a person at all times. The CEO is always interested in initiative or ideas. The product suite is considered robust and cutting-edge (i'm not a techie so I don't know if its a fair perception).

    Cons

The Dublin location isn't fantastic. If the offices were in the city centre it would be great. The org structure is a bit chaotic.

I have been working at Openet full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Additional holidays award for each year of service. Good employee welfare. Generally flexible working hours - can come to work early / late for doctor / dentist visits. Graduates get exposure to some interesting work.

    Cons

Managers are great at fire-fighting but poor at planning. Nepotism and cliques are prevalent. If you're not part of the club, too bad. No pay rises or bonus for part 4 years. Little scope for learning new skills or career advancement. Office environment is poor, split across two buildings in Dublin.
