I worked at Opera Solutions full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company allows employees to work independently. Good work/life balance for some positions. Good co-workers while they last. Turnover is very high due to the unkept promises.

    Cons

Absolutely no transparency into the health of the company. No leadership to respect. Management is a complete joke. This company can turn the hardest worker into a negative employee.

    Advice to Management

Become a silent partner and hire someone from the outside that cares about employees to run the company before you go under.

    Pros

Diversified projects, challenging environment. If you are a new grads, you will have chance to face client and lead a project. They had good analytics before, it is fading though.

    Cons

Lousy management team - changing direction every quarter.
Other than pay check, you get nothing, no bonus, no 401k, no susbsidized insurance.
There is no future of the company, you will never know how long the company exists, or when they lay off people.

I have been working at Opera Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some good people - few and far between.
When free friday lunch is the best thing about a company the writing is on the wall.

    Cons

The most political organization - and it doesn't even have 500 people! Everything is driven by whether or not you are in the good books of some select leaders. Unfortunately getting in their good books is dependent least on merit and most on how you politically handle yourself. Leadership decisions and opinions often made on hearsay not facts. Rampant favoritism. Senior US leadership is extremely untrustworthy and incompetent. Also they are really struggling with their business model and product, have seen no traction in more than a year - zero new projects. Company can wrap up or be sold anytime. Oh and did I say - they pay significantly under market compensation.

    Advice to Management

    Wake up.

I have been working at Opera Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free Friday Lunches
Great office Location ( New jersey Office)
    Happy Hours

    Cons

There are more managers than people who actually do the work (coding and analysis).
At a single time , 2-3 managers will give you ideas to implement and everyone expects the results. If you complain, they will ask you to manage time properly.

Signal Hub is Very bad. They sell this product to many clients ( who buy it because its cheaper in market) but there are issues every day.

Work - Life balance is the worst.

They do not have enough money to give Bonus to everyone.

Do not get stuck in this company for more than a year or else you will be stuck for ever.

    Advice to Management

E3 , F3 does not change the working conditions. Let your employees have some life as well.

I have been working at Opera Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People say that you will get a chance to work with talented people but the irony is if they are talented they would not stay back in opera. People are staying back because of family reasons and personal reasons . Not because of working conditions

    Cons

Not even enough money to pay bonus on time.
No work life balance. ( When i say 'No work life balance'. Its absolute Zero
Upper level management are very bad at decisions.
Projects are focused on internal tools and it is very difficult to come out of company as you will lack general Skills which you will need to progress in career.

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees with some respect.

    Pros

Some good and smart people. Free Fri lunches.

    Cons

Founders are clueless. Former CEO/founder practices favoritism and lacks vision. When you commit all your revenue from one client, you're not diversified enough to weather the storm when that ONE client decides to cut its ties. Closing most offices (NYC, Paris, etc.)

Most of the founding members have cashed out and left. Anyone remaining are looking to leave immediately. And when you lay people off, at least do it with professionalism and not over the phone.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue and stop lining your own pockets.

    Pros

Interesting industry domain, but the company lacks qualified people to take it to the next level and hence this has been a startup for the last ten years!

Pros - Initial exposure to big data industry, interesting challenges , startup environment.

    Cons

Cons - Lack of talented people, especially in key positions.

Software/Analytics - Most of the developers are just out of school, managers and leads have no prior experience, there is no concept of writing code efficiently to industry standards, which translates to sub-standard products.
Analyst/Associates - Very Very few have Math/Analytics background, Most of them are just head counts for projects.
Vice-President/Directors - Expertise in writing emails. Pre-sales - no sales experience required.
IT/Technology - Being a big data company, there is no understanding or expertise in hadoop/computer architecture.Constant hadoop issues and no resolution.

    Advice to Management

    None

    Pros

Flexibility and chaotic management if are one of those you can thrive on it

    Cons

No direction, management team is in trying its best to pump this company up to dump in and take the money and run. But so bad it is that they are paying interns to write good reviews on Internet including glassdoor. Feel sorry for the young talent who are learning wrong ethics. Not a single product is good to stand on its own. All of them are like Hampster running in data enter to keep lights on, saying patchwork everywhere.

    Advice to Management

In 15 odd years they had one good CEO who lasted for 1 year. You cannot fool all the people all the time.
