Three main reasons:
1) The variety of projects and variety of industries you will work on/in is amazing. No one else in Operations Consulting has this much variety. In my 5 years of working at OCI, I worked on over 40 different projects from fully automated factories to small warehouses. It was great experience.
2) The owner, Pres. & CEO, really knows his stuff and conveys that knowledge to you and the team on each and every project. He was very instrumental in developing my skills so that I would shine on the projects even in front of some of the biggest clients in US.
3) The people, only 17 employees, are from all over the world and they are really nice people. Even the clients had a lot of good things to say about the teams the owner would put on the projects.
You must stay busy... It is a 100% profit sharing company so you had to be productive to stay on staff. The owner is always looking to see who is performing and who is not. He will definately fire you if you are not productive, a contributor, or if you are caught steeling things from the office.
When you travel for a client, do not expect to live the high life. The owner will not let you charge clients for things that are not absolutely necessary to complete the project. He watches the client charges very closely. He has made people pay for things out of pocket if they tried to charge it to a client job or to misc. expenses.
Advice to Management
The owner honors every promise he makes to his clients. He makes evryone on the project keep that promise as well. If you are Senior Management and you want a consulting firm who will keep the promises they make, OCI is the firm for your company. The ROI that OCI generates for clients is quite amazing actually.
