    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Opes Advisors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management is very supportive and knowledgable. Peers are excellent team players and there is a god level of knowledge exchange. Compensation is very competitive and OT and generous bonus is offered depending on volume.

    Cons

Work load can be a bit overwhelming, however management is quick to step in and re-assign tasks as needed.

    Advice to Management

Keep the positive lines of communication open.

    Pros

I thought that the ability to advise clients on more than just their mortgage would be interesting.

    Cons

Do they even want to do mortgages? Horrible fulfillment. No sales support.

    Advice to Management

    Maybe just do wealth management.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Opes Advisors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

What I loved most about my time at Opes was being surrounded by a group of vibrant and friendly personalities! When business was good, things kept moving at a quick pace and there was never a dull moment!

    Cons

It was difficult to get upper level support when we were running into external issues. While my department wasn't impacted quite a frequently as others with too much work, I saw many of my coworkers have to spend an excessive amount of time in the office (over 10 hours a day) to just keep their work up to date, let alone get ahead. Operations and Secondary get barely any acknowledgement from the powers that be for helping get loans through the pipeline compared to MAs. High turnover.

    Advice to Management

Look in your own ranks to see who has talent and is willing to grow with the organization. It seems that managements first inclination is to hire from outside rather than support existing staff. Also, I saw way too many layoffs and too much employee turnover that quality suffered because of it. Susan and Jonathan, you guys seriously need to look past what your VPs are telling you and practice what you preach if you're going to claim that Opes is one big cozy family.

I worked at Opes Advisors full-time

    Pros

Has great STAFF made some new friends.

    Cons

Majority of upper management are either phoney or have no business managing. They work their employees to the max while management goes away on trips all the time! I work there for several months before some people even acknowledged me. Yet owner preaches we are like family really?
Opes has had some great talent but has been to blind to see it and has lost a lot of good people. Favoritism is an issue also. If you like working for a company who doesn't really care about their employees then this is the place for you. They cater to MA (loan officers)

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Stop playing favorites, open up your eyes and see that other people are both willing and capable of getting the job done!
To the owner, at least say "hi" to all of your employees when you visit the branches remember we are All making you successful regardless what job title we hold. And remember your staff actually closes the loans, the loans don't close because an MA brought in the business many hands are involved in the process.

    Pros

It is not a corporate atmosphere at all, pay structure is fair, there is a lot of room for advancement
