I worked at Opus Consulting Solutions full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked in Opus for 8+ years, 6 years in Pune (India) and 2+ years in NJ, USA. I had a very wonderful experience working with them, both at offshore and onsite. On Pros, I can say they have a good work culture, friendly environment, approachable management and work flexibility. I think if you keep the communication channel open, most of the issues are addressed. They have a very nice talent management program which does recognize your work and you are rewarded if you qualify. They pay as per the market standards (I would say slightly higher). I am not sure on other peoples experiences, however I got a nice team and individuals to work with.

    Cons

A lot of improvement needs on individuals appraisal interview and assessment (at least onsite).
Looking at the average current employee tenure (most of the employees are more than 5+ years), loyalty programs needed to be added in HR policies as a retention plan.

    Advice to Management

Client base should be expanded beyond payments.

I worked at Opus Consulting Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The talent field was top notch at one point of time. And you would get a lot of help from that talent pool. Made working there a very good experience.

    Cons

    - Opus is a family run company. Nepotism is at an all time high.
    - Women, this is not a company for you. High levels of sexism.
    - The managers and the top management is the primary reason this company will sink. No communication skills and zero resource management skills. Be prepared to hear dirty threats from them.
    - The sales team is a joke. No clients have been acquired by them yet.
    - The HR is a mafia of its own. Zero manners. They would remind you of credit card collection agents. They even go to the extent of telling you that they own the company and that you should not argue with them.
    - The CEO has no idea of what his managers are up to.
    - Managers have lost projects within a span of a year and somehow been appreciated for it.
    - Senior employees are given no respect.
    - Managers throw their hands up in the air when made aware of a problem because they really hold no power. They cannot make decisions.
    - They lack employee retention skills.
    - It used to be an easy going company. Now you feel there are dictators working here.
    - Politics is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Revamp your sales force and your managers. Get more clients. Provide that security to your employee. Stop losing out on good projects because of a bad managerial staff. Be open to feedback from employees. Let the employees also appraise their managers. Teach your HR manners. Provide benefits to your employees. Prevent your top management from getting drunk at parties and revealing sensitive company information.

I have been working at Opus Consulting Solutions full-time

    Pros

There are some very talented engineers in the company

    Cons

Chennai office does not care for the employees.
So called testing team is not at all talented in testing.
The quality team does not know anything about quality and none of them are PMP certified
None of the managers are PMP certified.
The canteen facility is not there
The appraisal system is very bad and do not recognize the skills of people except if they are close to the managers
Poor infrastructure and no training imparted to the new employees
HR does not work for the welfare of the employees
     Family run company
CEO is not aware of the plight of the employees in Chennai office

    Advice to Management

CEO needs to be more proactive in understanding the employees opinions and concerns and resolve them. Even if that means sacking some old employees like testing manager, center manager and quality managers.

I worked at Opus Consulting Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Relationships at Opus are centered around trust, loyalty, with a keen impetus on learning and developing oneself. You tend to meet a relatively high number of tenured employees that speak passionately about Opus. This kind of general attitude has to but rub off on anyone looking to make a career here. A special mention has to be made of the Management, and the HR/ Recruitment team in the US, who I believe have had a major hand in earning that trust and a keen sense of loyalty among Opus' employees (including mine) in the US.

    Cons

Have had an overall positive experience during my tenure at Opus..
