I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Stable company.
Wide array of products, and a solid customer base.

    Cons

    Huge company.
They understandably focus on penny pinching to save expenses. This will erode your earnings.
    Salary on the low side.
No salary increase unless you earn a title promotion.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Putting Oracle's big name on your resume.

    Cons

Oracle is all about the big money clients who pay over 4 million ARR to Oracle. They will bend over backwards for them. The rest of the clients smaller than 1.5 are treated like the redheaded stepchild. Smaller clients who don't spend big bucks but eventually would if they bought multiple suites have drifted to other vendors. Stock went up 11% after the massive layoffs. Real nice, instead of keeping your employees you fed your own pocketbook. To anyone with Oracle stock. Sell your stock as it's going to tank when these clients they've forgotten move on. They can only support the big guys so long before the small ones eat them up by going to competitors.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Your current management staff is all kiss butt with no action. They don't know what they're doing. When you knew layoffs were coming three months prior, why didn't you warn employees? They could have been looking for jobs instead of finding out that 3,500 employees across the company got laid off 6/1 with only hours before you shutoff access to their systems. Then forcing them to sign up for cobra in order to get benefit coverage is just really sad for some of us who were with you for years and years.

I worked at Oracle full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You learn how horrible life is in a mismanaged, software sales role. You can also make great friends who will be as miserable as you are. Also, you get cake on your birthday.

    Cons

Two territories, three comp plan changes, no field support, revolving door of managers, lies, unrealistic expectations, back stabbing sales approach.

    Advice to Management

I'll save the effort, Mark Hurd wont listen. His college kids program is a joke and they have no concern for family.

I was with Sun when acquired management was great and treated me like a human.
