I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company that is growing every day. Constant opportunity to learn and increase skills. Many areas to move into within the company.

    Cons

The company is set in there ways and hard to make quick adjustments to meet customers needs. Can be a challenge to try to make improvement to processes, as first line managers are often not comfortable recommending improvement processes with their executive teams.

    Advice to Management

Encourage individual contributors to drive improvement processes

I have been working at Oracle full-time

    Pros

ed might get to work with some DB technologies depending on the team we are working in.

    Cons

Very bad company to work with. I worked there for 9 years and one fine morning they just laid me off. I had the highest performance rating but they just laid me off within even giving me a proper reason. Don't work here if we are looking for safety and stability. There are lot of old people who will not work and just play political games.

    Advice to Management

Please bring professionalism. Please try to retain the top performers. If you don't care about employees , company is not going to survive long. Just don't think to transfer all jobs to low cost countries.

I worked at Oracle (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company, tons of support, ability to cross sell and upsell in existing accounts, name recognition is second to none

    Cons

Somewhat sterile environment, bit too much of 'just in it for me', existing CRM may not have true contacts and account history from acquisitions

    Advice to Management

Allow associates more freedom to exercise initiative, designate mid to enterprise accounts to specific account manager who continually looks for additional solutions

Oracle is a well-known brand. Its employees are known to be 'workhorses'!

Mark Hurd and his methods to show margin by eliminating incentives plus depleting compensation plans hurts employees loyal to the company.
