I have been working at Oracle (Less than a year)

    Pros

great perks and great career opportunities. Location is in a good place although can be difficult to get out of here on my bike sometimes with lots of traffic

    Cons

pressure is always on which is a good thing most of the time. Senior Management are watching all the time so we are pushed hard. This can be a good thing, tho seems a little early for this pressure for some of my mates.

  2. "OK place to work... But it is a sales organisation first and foremost, not a technology organisation."

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with some of the latest software products

Working with people (customers and employees from all over the world

Excellent employee benefits such as top quality health insurance

    Cons

As the company grew larger and larger it felt that employees were becoming less valued by upper management.

The share price seemed to take precedence over the company's values and product quality.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget your valued employees (especially the dedicated, long serving employees). The main reason Oracle became great was the quality of the people that worked for the company.

In the last few years it seems that the share price (and benefits to upper level executives) has taken precedence over as the top priority.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great products, knowledge base and offer.

    Cons

Lack of cloud references and an overall lack of customer centricity. Systrms are a mess!
Promotions happen on the base of who i like rather than results. Run by old managers like a sweat shop!

    Advice to Management

Focus on quality and let the metrics follow. Pronote and retain talent! Each year some of the best reps will leave due to lack of better opportunities. Waste of energy and resources. Stop managing for personal gain!!

I have been working at Oracle full-time

    Pros

    - Good Melbourne office location
    - Free parking
    - Good health benefits
    - Minimal back-stabbing

    Cons

    - Poor management (particularly Sales management) in ANZ/APAC
    - Promotes based on (internal) employee tenure versus actual merit and career history outside of Oracle. This results in mediocre management rising through the ranks.
    - Lack of quality lead generation and effective marketing aside from events
    - Most employees lack motivation
    - The region is always forgotten by HQ.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to handle change better. A lot of wasted talent sits idle because management is only focused on roles that generate direct revenue (increased sales turnover shows that focus is being wasted/done incorrectly by mediocre management). HR is of no assistance and needs to be cleaned up.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are generally good, as you'd expect from a behemoth like Oracle.

    Cons

If you thrive in an environment rife with bureaucracy and inane process, Oracle is your place. If you have an ounce of creativity and soul, you will not enjoy working at Oracle.

    Advice to Management

Most good managers leave Oracle - if you think you're a good manager, you should leave and grow your career elsewhere.
