I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is a Brand name, and a learning experience of sorts. Some products are industry leaders. Benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

Ever smaller territory and narrowed products. Organizational BS and infighting is high, even by large corporate standards. Worse, this is by design!

    Advice to Management

No reason to provide advice. They don't even pretend to listen.

    Pros

Great place to work, smart people, great pay, lots of flexibility and a complete set of products to sell to our customers.

I worked at Oracle (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lot of autonomy, decent pay package and decent benefits.

    Cons

Oracle is going through a fight for its life. Oracle is being attacked by Saas vendors across the board. Also being challenged by many tech startups at the core database and Amazon, Google and Microsoft in PaaS, SaaS and IaaS. As a result Oracle is scrambling in all corners of the business to remain relevant with a largely on premise software portfolio when the rest of the world has embraced SaaS.

    Advice to Management

    You get three votes:
    Employees
    Customers
    Press/Analyst Community

The best employees are leaving Oracle in droves.
Customers are leaving Oracle apps and tech at the first opportunity of a better solution. Vendor lock in is real and customers hate it. As soon as they find an option that is close - they leave to be treated better.

Oracle continues to have some great products in some categories.
