I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to sell. Massive R&D spend keeps product lines competitive. If you perform and your behavior increases shareholder value, there is little micro management. Larry Ellison knows where the puck will be and brings products to market at the right time.

    Cons

Internal processes can be overwhelming and can distract the sales force causing us to spend less time selling and more time in front of the computer. 25% of time is not spent in front of customers due to internal processes (pricing approvals etc..).

    Advice to Management

Hire a team of sales operations folks to handle the process and let sales sell.

Please involve developers into multiple projects so as to get even more exposure to technology

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Their name is well known in the industry and they do have great products of value. There is a good work life balance and company outings each quarter. They take pride in volunteer hours

    Cons

Named accounts for the Sales Reps are always rolled out late, tracking activity is done very old school, too old school for technology company. No motivation from leadership and bad communication from them

    Advice to Management

Make your employees feel appreciated and get better at finding a good process to track things

Changes made often reflect poor insight or lack thereof. Dedication to customers could improve. In general, it could be run much better.

    Pros

The pay is great and so are the benefits. Co-workers are friendly and helpful. Love the flexibility to work from home.

    Cons

Everything is self serve so it takes you about a week or so to just get fully set-up. The help desk is a hit or miss as sometimes you get a very helpful tech and other times you'll get one that just sends you a video or a deck to read instead of walking you through it.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Job security, some fun projects, good life balance of 9-5 as most jobs in NY work you to the bone. Really depends on what department you're in.

    Cons

No raises, they hire a lot of incompetent people who talk but have no skills to execute. Upper management are super disconnected and only care about the bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Give good employees a reason to stay... raises, fair bonuses, etc.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're looking for a company that is just a job to make a decent living, this is the place for you. It's not a dynamic environment that fosters innovation or creativity. What they tell you versus what the reality of their company culture is vastly different.

    Cons

Slow to change. Management is very archaic.
