I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting technology, fast paced, always new things to learn, competitive compensation package, customers are easy to deal with for the most part.

    Cons

The level of pressure, internal competition and politics may be too intense for some folks. Some managers spend too much time managing up instead of managing down.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Experience if you're new to IT - you'll get a good name for your next resume.

    Cons

No Raise, no advancement, management is purely focused on shareholder quarterly reports.

    Advice to Management

Give a crap about the people doing the work you depend on.

I worked at Oracle (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people, free soda, and name looks good on a Resume.

    Cons

No bonus' for hourly employees, poor benefits/perks, raises are rare and hard to come by, and lots of turnover as it's really only good for entry level people. Operations Management is incompetent and tends to micromanage basic processes with many layers of staffing. Many of the long term folks have no degrees so it's a good opportunity for them.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and focus on process improvement. There is little communication between parts of the supply chain.

I have been working at Oracle (More than a year)

    Pros

Freedom to manage workload, challenging, rarely boring, step up your game, work with industry greats

    Cons

Spectrum of communication (lack of pertinent info, too much trivial info), upward progression is limited, under-qualified sales representatives

    Pros

Pretty much everyone I work with is intelligent, hard-working, and just wants to do a good job. Most of my co-workers are very smart and have lots of experience under their belts, so I always feel like I'm challenged and learning. People are open to new ideas and always looking for ways to improve. Management seems to genuinely care about people and does what they can to work with you, your schedule, your career goals, etc. Corporate culture awards those who help themselves.

    Cons

Very self-guided, you are kind of left on your own to figure things out (sometimes to a fault). Limited opportunities for advancement if you want to stay in Oregon, no work from home options in WWOPS. Our org is pretty stingy with perks - no holiday parties, summer picnics, low increases. Increase/promotions are rare outside of yearly review cycles, and are reflective of your current level/salary, not necessarily the market.

    I worked at Oracle full-time

    Pros

If you are in the inner circle, you can get away with doing very little other than going to meetings all day and pretending you've done something. While I worked here Oracle ripped off the State of Oregon by failing to build the CoverOregon website that they were contracted to create. Millions of our tax dollars went to help Larry get even more billions.

    Cons

Indecisiveness, poor management, incompetence, the mean-spirited hold positions of power.
