I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Oracle offers a lot of great benefits and is well established. They take care of their employees.

    Cons

The culture of the company is great but each department has their own culture depending on the management. The benefits are great, but the compensation could be better. Management can be so overworked that they barely have time to assist their employees with questions or work. Turnover is high in some departments.

    Advice to Management

Management is not on the same page regularly. They have their own management styles but they do not convey the same priorities for comparable teams. They should make an effort to lower turnover to keep great employees.

Create a people culture with team support, vs. silos and "every man for himself" mentality.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Most people that work that are not qualified to be in the position that they are in; giving you the opportunity to shine at every corner.

SE organization and leadership team is strong

    Cons

Possibly the worst Comp plan to ever give the SE organization for FY17

The worst sales reps and managers to ever fill seats

Management is not in tune with the actual problems and can not seem to fix them

    Advice to Management

Seriously, cut this class of program. It hasn't worked and it will not work. Since the program started we have not come close to hitting any budgets and it's embarrassing. It's bad enough that this is the only organization where the SC's basically have to hand hold the sales reps on prospecting, account planning and deal management - the SC's get zero support from the sales regional managers. Most regional sales managers have never cold called a day in their life and can not coach these class of's.

For FY17 and possibly FY18 they changed the SE comp plans with 2 buckets that are completely out of our control. This growth bucket is impossible for us to impact if the useless ASR's don't make calls. After 3 qtrs I am over 25K less in comp than I was last year. Not only that we are working 3 times harder.

By Q4 or end of Q4 get ready for the mass exodus of SE's....hopefully these incompetent executives don't replace them with class of SC's.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Work-life balance is good
    - Compensation is OK

    Cons

    - Large corporation means that you are at the mercy of your management chain
    - Lots of dead-wood employees, particularly in middle management and HR
    - Lip service only paid to career advancement, promotions, and learning

    Advice to Management

    - Clear out the middle management dead-wood
    - Modernize the software, particularly the look-and-feel

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Full of smart, talented people who are passionate about what they do. Medical benefits are good, as is the 401k matching. In fact, 401k matching is the best I've heard of talking with friends at other companies in the industry. Company is stable.

    Cons

Compensation is sub par. Bonuses, raises and promotions seem to be rare relative to company size, across the company not just in one department, no matter how hard you work and deliver. Company doesn't appear to promote loyalty. I've been with the company over 20 years so I know how it was. Appreciation of employees and an interest in retention doesn't seem to be a business priority anymore.

I worked at Oracle (More than a year)

    Pros

I liked that it's a stable company with nice benefits, fair pay, and a really pretty campus (in Redwood Shores) with a gym on site! Loved the day the company did a 5k and then everyone hung around the pool :)

    Cons

Difficult commute from SF (to Redwood Shores), very impersonal, very little training, difficult to find information, very few vegan options in the cafes :(
