I have been working at Oracle full-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedule. Lots of internal opportunities

    Cons

Self-service culture means you have to be comfortable to navigate through ambiguity to get your work done. Probably one of the few companies in the area that doesn't have annual bonus for employees

    Advice to Management

Senior management are compensated well at the expense of no salary increase/bonus for entry- mid level employees.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good salary, good benefits, stock options, live anywhere/work from home (for some teams), flexible schedules, fairly professional, good opportunities for women (can't speak to whether pay is fair, though), decent access to training and resources.
Despite my "cons" below, the working environment has gotten a lot friendlier than it was.

    Cons

Still has a lot of politics, lack of collaboration among teams and orgs, aggressive personalities and big egos.
Recently they've been moving a lot of jobs to India and China. It's hard to see good people you've worked with for years get laid off and replaced with inexperienced people overseas.
It's also hard to do work you're proud of due to rigid restrictions and out-of-date standards. Whatever team gets there first sets the standards, even when they're mediocre. Then everyone else ends up following the mediocre standards for years to come because it's too much work to change them and make things better.
Some of the best teams are from acquired companies. The old-school Oracle people who've been there for decades are the most political, aggressive, and rigid.

    Advice to Management

Give small teams space to innovate and influence. Reward teams/orgs for collaborating and helping each other. Reward teams and people that do the best work by giving them more opportunities to do good work (as opposed to boring drudgery). Also, just be real. Don't pretend you care about employees. Learn to actually care. We can tell the difference.

    I worked at Oracle full-time

    Pros

Global network of offices where you can plug in and work. Free beverages are great as well. Tons of opportunities at Oracle.

    Cons

Very big, old, slow machine. Not the place for someone who wants to affect change very quickly.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Through a variety of roles at Oracle, I have always had the ability to work from home, and some ability to set my own schedule. Oracle does a good job of providing independence, and (aside from quarter ends) a great work-life balance.

    Cons

Oracle continues to tighten budgets and reduce employee benefits. Salary increases are rare, and despite being a bonus-eligible employee, I haven't received a bonus in years.

    Advice to Management

Rather than allowing good employees to leave only to hire replacements that need training at higher salaries, reward hard work with salary increases and keep knowledge/skill within the company.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Experience, a career, pretty good culture, and great work/life balance. Very hard to get fired here, a fun team/org events

    Cons

Your territory determines your attainment. This is why it's a political environment. So you can end up doing incredible work and not get credit for it because your territory changes

    Advice to Management

Management is doing a great job, by design it's difficult to create fair territories and have a capitalist model that reinforces a pay for performance environment
