I have been working at Oracle (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, great pay, great opportunities, I am generally impressed with the management. Enjoy the challenge of working in the high tech space

    Cons

Dynamic market requires constant learning, something I actually enjoy. If you do choose to work it may require staying up late to meet suspended.

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule & ability to work from home. Long term stability (depending on the team). Quality benefits & cost is reasonable for employee only (cost is high for family). Good manager (experience can vary greatly depending on what team you work for). Good camaraderie among co-workers.

    Cons

Pay is typically below the market & raises are often non-existent. Not a lot of long term growth potential. You have to leave the company and come back in order to make a competitive salary.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees what they are worth or else don't expect to be able to retain top talent.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Had a great product to sell.

    Cons

Management and everyone there make it too tough to sell. It was a 2 years of frustration and failure.

    Advice to Management

    Do your job.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and work life balance.

    Cons

It is time to share the wealth > 401k match needs to go up and raises need to happen yearly (at minimum). Current trend of low cubicle walls > sucks. Tall fences make for great neighbors (as the expression goes). You won't get a raise moving (being promoted) within Oracle > policy needs to change. You max out at 18 days of PTO a year in your 4th year.

    Advice to Management

There is a lot of talk about retaining and promoting talent, but there are policies in place that need to change in order to accommodate this. There needs to be a 3rd and 4th tier for accruing PTO.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Master the Oracle products by doing. Surrounded by brilliant people around the world.

    Cons

For implementers, the pay is not as great as working for the competition.

    Advice to Management

You create your own competition with high prices, and average implementation methods.

Pay was excellent. Worked around very intelligent and educated individuals. Management cared for their employees. Advancement was very good.

    Cons

Could have better eduacation of products. Sometimes was selling blind.

    Pros

Oracle has some of the best non-monetary compensation around (i.e. Health benefits, time-off).

    Cons

Too much red tape. Management is very top-heavy.

    Advice to Management

It would be helpful to streamline much of the red tape. Working there feels a little like working for the federal government in that your need many levels of management approval for anything and approvals usually take a long time.
