    Cons

Top management mindset stuck in 1990 pre-internet era.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Oracle has a robust, international network of offices and employees who are highly educated, experienced, and effective. If you want a career that can become really anything under the roof at Oracle, it's yours. Oracle is a vast network offering access to the latest technology in AI, IOT, HW, SW, Cloud. Everything.

    Cons

Senior management, probably Mark Hurd, is always looking for ways to cut costs and thereby ruin the employee experience.

    Advice to Management

Don't make your employees feel like there is no opportunity to keep up with the cost of living because you will cut yet another benefit to the bone.

    Pros

If they don't have the best in breed, they buy it. Decent portfolio that continues to grow. No one was ever fired for buying Oracle.

    Cons

Keep reducing territories, amazing bad commissions system, poor management communication, jump ball between sales pillars.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some good people and incredible products. People are still making lots of money in pockets. Great benefits and free talking rain.

    Cons

Oracle has undergone a huge talent loss since I started here. The bar is so incredibly low here today. You used to see the best sales people in the game here. I’ve very underwhelmed by my colleagues and our support structures.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your ivory tower and try to fix this thing- the only thing that's keeping the stock moving up is the incredible products we have. The bottom will fall out soon.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Important products to business operation and technology development
    - Compensation I'm guessing is around 15-20% below market (base+rsu+401k w/match)
    - Benefits overall are good but family of 4 is $860/mo employee cost for Cadillac plan
    - No formal vacation policy. Vacation between you and your manager
    - Work/life balance depends upon role but generally acceptable
    - Work from home is available depending upon your group and role

    Cons

    - In 5 years I have had outstanding performance on reviews which resulted in: 1 small salary adjustment, medium stock award, a significant boost in compensation when promoted. Even so, I lag industry peers in compensation.
    - Corporate travel is painful. All travel must be booked thru company travel agency. Many options for direct flights removed leaving few direct international flights. Business class air travel only authorized for Sr. Director and above roles.
    - Oracle does not pay for home office expenses. Oracle considers you as a flex employee with an office desk if you are 50mi from any Oracle office (not the office you would normally work at). I'm guessing their is a tax advantage for this flimfamery.

    Advice to Management

Oracle is a shrewd company. An employee like myself with 5-years at the company must begin to look seriously at other outside options to keep up with compensation across industry. This can't be good for the company. Also there are too many rules that get in the way of progress. Rules are a crappy form of governance. Instead, the company should make deeper investments into automation and imbuing these systems with governance policies. Too much heroics to get stuff done. Also if a particular behavior poses little financial or compliance risk to the company it should be removed. Trust employees a little more.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, 401k matching, decent pay, good perks for corporate employees. Some opportunity for advancement if you are in the right place at the right time and you know the right people. Good place to build a resume but few are truly satisfied with long term.

    Cons

No emphasis on work/life balance, forced to work nights and weekends with no compensation. Denied vacation. Only 3 weeks paid per year. Denied consulting bonus' due to poor management choices. Any cool local perks are not available if you are a consultant. Promotions are not tied to more pay, you get the title and more work but no additional pay.

    Advice to Management

Think more than one quarter ahead. Treat people who actually earn income for the company with more respect. Build solid relationships with your customer base, not just ram more software license down their throat at the end of the quarter.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Mentorship, work-life balance, and the ability to make the most of your career

    Cons

Sometimes feels like a huge corporation when promotions and raises are being considered; financially stingy.

    Advice to Management

Management can be really hit or miss as far as career progression is concerned. People Management skills should be promoted just as much as Technical Management

    Advice to Management
