I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Potential for decent / good earnings

    Cons

Very hierarchical and many lines of business are either non-collaborative or even bordering on hostile and will want you to fail. You have to go a long way up the organisation before it starts to join up.

    Advice to Management

Be prerpared to malke your own way in Oracle. Non-one will help you, and many will work against you. If you're in the right place selling the right products you can earn well.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I work with a nice bunch of people, and if you live west of London the location is not bad. Good canteen, good training possibilities and the benefits / pension package is quite good. I've not been there long enough to know whether the career opportunities are any good.

    Cons

Coming from a contractor position, the money was a big cut. But what irritates me more is the fact that Oracle is quite tight. My team are all developers, but they won't buy us decent laptops, and they won't pay to send us business class when we fly to California for work. Then there are the sclerotic business processes which slow everyone down - probably typical of large organisations.

    Advice to Management

give your developers decent tools to do their jobs properly. Listen to your employees when they give you feedback on internal processes.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Flexible benefits
Ability to work from home when needed

    Cons

No wage growth for several years
Multiple re-organisations in a few years
Hr are unable to give any help
Senior VPs intentionally pushing back fixing select points allocations because they won't be back dated to saved the company money
Training has to be done over web conferencing because they won't sign off on flights

    Advice to Management

Treat the staff like people, with experience not numbers, 50 people leaving a support department in a month in one office is above industry attrition
