    Pros

The culture is amazing! I enjoyed every minute of my time working with great people, in a healthy, encouraging environment

    Cons

It is a small university so the pay is low.

I worked at Oral Roberts University part-time

    Pros

They empower student leaders and enable students to have extensive responsibility. Usually students who are leaders make a little more than the average student.

    Cons

Poor communication at times between students and supervisors. I was discontinued a position because a change of supervisor and wasn't promised the position. It was incredibly
    Inappropriate and unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with students. Teach students how to take advantage of the best opportunities at the university. Not to over involve students without future insight for what are the best things.

I have been working at Oral Roberts University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The competence, integrity and vision of the staff and faculty have steered the University toward a vision of higher education that you can really get behind. Six years operating in the black with 8 years of student growth...amazing

    Cons

As with some big organizations there are some areas that aren't always instep with the best practices that are being implemented...it will get there eventually

I worked at Oral Roberts University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In general, great students, & great opportunities to grow

    Cons

Top-heavy leadership, too many VP's & useless executive-level positions, political, spiritually manipulative at times, stuck in old ways, authoritarian professional environment, & discouraging to new methods/approaches.

    Advice to Management

Richard Roberts legacy is gone. It's time to let go of the "damage-control" mentality. Treat faculty and students the way you would like to be treated. Don't talk about servant leadership, model for us what it looks like. Let students breathe and feel free to grow, not in conformity, but through critical-thinking. Encourage them to ask "why" and be open to input from faculty/staff, not just those with a "VP" title. Too often you see feedback and questions to current methods as threats, instead of opportunities for input. You're here to serve, not be served, don't forget that.

    Pros

It's a nice atmosphere to work, the people are friendly, the jobs are not overly difficult, and there is not an enormous amount of pressure

    Cons

No on knows ORU outside of Tulsa, so it means virtually nothing to other people. The pay is also quite low in comparison.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate yourselves and your priorities. Even though ORU has improved recently, there is still a long way to go.

I worked at Oral Roberts University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a fantastic sense of community among staff members. Those working at the university feel a deep sense of satisfaction knowing they are making a difference in the lives of students & are a part of a strong mission/vision.

    Cons

The higher levels of administration are not in touch with the needs of students or students/faculty/staff. They are out of touch & tend to make rash decisions at a moment's notice. There is a prevailing culture of fear among faculty & staff that they could be fired at any moment.

    Advice to Management

I would encourage management to begin actually listening to the needs of students/faculty/staff and not just conducting "listening tours." Trust those under you to make decisions and resist the urge to micromanage.

I worked at Oral Roberts University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a student, it was great having a job located on the campus. It allowed me to spend more time on studies, and provided a way for me to give back to my school.

    Cons

Minimum wage, lack of benefits, no room for growth in career.

    Advice to Management

More perks and benefits for being a student employee.
