    I have been working at Ordnance Factory Board (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1.Good starting salary.

    2. You will learn about ammunition.

    3. Mostly clerical work.

    4. You will be given a job profile irrespective of your technical background. Like chemical graduates in mechanical and mechanical graduates in chemical.

    5.You can socialize a lot as these factories are highly overstaffed.

    6. you will be stuck here for lifetime as work exp works only for DRDO and defense.

    8. Good housing quarters./ facilities. Good townships.

    9. You get a lot of respect.

    10. Not a place for BTech/ MTech as most work is documentation/letter correspondence.

    Cons

    1. Promotions not good for Gp "B" and lower. For Gp' A' promotions are good.

    2. Most factories located at difficult locations. Transfers not that easy. JWMs are expected to serve 10-12 yrs at a particular stn before asking for transfer.

    Advice to Management

    Doing great work, serving our nations for defense needs.
    OFB- The force behind our armed forces.

    I have been working at Ordnance Factory Board full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Challenging and Risky completely new environment where the potential of a chemical engineer can realy be utilised in project and manufacturing.

    Cons

    Promotion prospects are low. Senior management is less bothered about the middle management. No promotion prospects in vicinity.

    Improve promotion prospects and salary n responsibilities

    Pros

    Enough salary. Overtime available to earn money. As like other government organizations job security.

    Cons

    Only earn money, every day passes with definite efforts to survive. Live like money making machines. Roles and responsibility not defined, insufficient training. Inadequate knowledge given by the organization. More work time to squeeze everyone by having baits in terms of more money earning.

    Job culture to be changed. Organization structure to be improved

    all the plants are using backdated technology, to be replaced by new one. staffs to be trained properly for better productivity
